Rusty's last Pontiac...

Thanks guys always appreciated... 'Found this pic,

Interesting tonal difference between the yellow on the lower sides and the yellow of the race number... 'bet if I replicated that on a 'competition model' I'd get marked down by some rivet-counting self-declared expert :bat

Rusty's last Pontiac...

That's when you take pictures with you Ian and shove it in their face, or whatever place is most accessible. Those old school Nascar boys wouldn't take that crap! :rotf

Shout out to Geoff Bodine #5 Car. Who would be that 63 car back then? :hmmm

Rusty's last Pontiac...

Color difference could be because the stripes are paint and the number is a vinyl decal.

Rusty's last Pontiac...

Great find Ian, I did some looking this afternoon but didn't find a thing. Assigning you my next research project.

No prob boss, as long as it's either an F-4 or a NASCAR, I'm good, anything else and I'm likely to fall flat on my a*se !!... Wouldn't believe that I'm actually British sometimes would you :S - I swear I was born on the wrong side of the pond.

Last trip to the 'States, 2005, one of our stops was Nashville, stayed at the Best Western just outside of town, just over the road is the Nashville Raceway, there were a couple of Busch teams practising, so I just had to have my pic taken with a Chevy... would have been rude not to... :v

Ok Ian, Let's test yer NASCAR skills... Name: Terry Schoonover Year: 1980s

hc15f7b8.jpg

Winston Cup debut at Rockingham Speedway in 1984, driving his own #42 Chevrolet home to a 21st place finish.[3] The next race, at Atlanta International Raceway, on lap 129 Schoonover was involved in an accident where he hit the outside wall, then slid into the infield and struck a dirt embankment head on at a fairly high rate of speed. The safety crew had to cut the roof of his car and roll it back in order to extricate Schoonover from the car and he was eventually airlifted from the speedway to a local hospital where he died of massive head and internal injuries. His death was the first fatality at the Atlanta track.

Rusty's last Pontiac...

It has returned to the bench - Sadly I hadn't done nearly as much as I thought I had so have re-sprayed the interior grey and started building-up the cage. Nothing worth photographing just yet, but that will change from next week onward.

Now that the 'mojo' has returned, I shouldn't take too long with this one, 'don't touch that dial...'

Rusty's last Pontiac...

A little work over the weekend:

Sprayed the prominent intake grills on the lower air dam with Tamiya enamel 'Gunmetal', not got any pics of the cage & chassis, but that's progressing nicely, however I have to say when Monogram released this updated version of their NASCAR Pontiac with the much older moulds for the common interior it was a bit of a mistake.

The generic interior moulds were completely shot... what detail there is in this kit, are almost non-existent on the smaller parts (the shocks are particularly awful), it's good that this was the last year for these set of moulds.

Thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment. More tomorrow, real life permitting :coolio
