Round engine questions

I am going to start some seriously deep, cosmic,but not psychedelic P-47 building here soon. I have two kits coming and I finally want to tackle the super detailed R 2800. My biggest hurdle will be the ignition wires. I am kind of cheap when it comes to ordering PE for it so the Eduard wire loom at $28.00 is out. My question is how would one go about attaching ignition wires to the loop. What dia. wire would I use for 32 scale etc,etc.

And the Eduard stuff ain't really wire, it's flat strips.

I'll have to dig out some photos what i've done in the past. I know i've used some of Scale Hardware nuts on either end but there's better stuff to use. Think I also used brass tube for the spark plugs with a Scale Hardware nut.

Can't remember the size of wire, I just eyeballed it. Seems like someone would have the correct wire.

.012-.015 diameter should be about right for 1/32. The nut on the s[ark plug end fits a 3/4 end wrench.

Good choice to avoid the PE stuff, horrible to work with and doesn't look that great. I use fine solder when I do it. Easier to bend and stays where you put it. If the wiring loom is big enough I'll drill holes for it, if not I just hide the start point behind the loom. Half of your leads (on the R-2800 anyway) will be going to the rear of the cylinders and those I just wrap over the top and tack on the back side. If you are using a plug attach the wire to the top of it. Many times on 1/48 scale kits I just drill a hole where the plug would be, insert the wire and paint the end white or silver.

Paul I like lead wire best for ignition leads. Its round and easy to work with. Either find some fine solder or if there is a fishing store near you some weighted lead wire, or alternately extra fine beading wire. Spark plugs can be sourced from albion tubes cut to size or from Tuarus models if 1/32. And I used Archer transfers placards to make data plates.
