Revell 1/144 HMCS Snowberry

Mabe y you have a ghost that put it there. I think my mother in law haunts us. Strange things have happened in the past with no explanation. Gary S.

Not looking forward to the pin wash. It would be easier if i gave it a gloss coat i think, The panel line washes won't run on this mat.

It is known as an H-Cowl. In the marine environment, a ship's pitching and rolling is constantly changing wind angles and can cause backdrafts. Any wind going over the top of the vertical legs will create a low pressure area (Bernoulli effect) and suck the exhaust up and out. If there is turbulence causing downdrafts, the exhaust will be pushed out the bottom of the legs and not back into the ship. It will also keep rain, snow and debris from dropping down the flue.

They can be seen on chimneys of houses and industrial buildings in areas of turbulent airflow for the same reasons

I had to go to the doctors last week. I had a hole appear in my foot, right on the ball ... I was worried it might be the start of an ulcer as it was really painful and i couldn't put any weight on it. Any way the nurse said i had probably stood on something, she thought it was a puncture wound but it was all clear now, keep it covered. I was doubt full because this was "really" painful.
Any way this morning i went to put my sock on and it caught on something sticking through the bandage.........

This is an off cut from one of my home made motorcycle spokes that had worked its way out of my foot 0.5mm x 9mm . Pleased to say i can walk again now. :)
the things we go through for our hobby.

Todays dilema. This is the gun platform from Pontos PE, it completely replaces the kit parts

Untitled-1.jpg

Nice as it is its beyond my skills. maybe 30 years ago with younger eyesight and dexterity but i took one look at this and its not going to happen :)
Around the edge are brackets that hold ammunition for the main gun like the sackville in Canada

There are 22 of those and the PE is 1mm in the verticle and each holder is 2 parts, the longer part folded into a z shape

Seen here along side the kit part
I cant do this, i dont think i could even produce a blob of CA small enough to join the two PE parts together let alone hold them in place and then fix them to the base.

This is someone elses build using the kit parts

Its quite incorrect and of course the ladders and railings are way over size.
My mission now is to try and recreate some thing to scale thats acceptable using a mix of parts i think.

That Pontos PE looks challenging. Do what you feel up to my friend. I use micro applicators for extra tiny stuff that are made from stainless wire. The wires have a slightly angled chisel end on them that is polished which helps to apply the CA exactly where I want it. That and good magnification help a lot.

On the 1/72nd scale Do17Z that is partly done, It had these little diamond shaped things in the flap frames. With Optivisor and watchmaker loupe I couldn't see them well enough to apply them. Dug out the stereo microscope and it was easy peasy.

Once I could see what I was working on, it made all the difference.

If i put my critical hat on neither the Pontus or the kit parts look anything like the real thing, mainly because neither actually include shells.

I am at my station. Winds are fair, on a following sea.
Bits of stretched sprue for the shells? :silly: I might be tempted to use the kit parts on the gun mount base.

Looks tedious. Odd location for ready rounds but I guess it worked.
I broke out a hypodermic syringe with thin CA on some rigging recently. Worked out well, lot better than the larger applicator I've been using.
