P-47N 1/48 Academy

I'm doing this for a Pin Ups GB on another site and I figured I'd post it up here as well. I can't seem to get enough Jugs at the moment.

I've got most all the major parts and cockpit parts off the sprues and all cleaned up and she looks to be a pretty nice build. We'll see as I always manage to screw something up! Stay tuned!

Well, I'm firing up the way back machine I guess. One of those shelf of doom jobbies that I dusted off. There was acutally no good reason why I stopped building this kit. I just had painted the interior bits their basic colors and then boxed it back up. I have no idea why. Something else probably took my fancy.

Metal is Alclad and the rest is Model Master Enamels. All was dullcoated with Testors dull coat. I masked and painted the tail stripes because I wanted to and I knew not to trust the academy decals. Then stupid me went and tried to use their star and bar decals with terrible results. You can't really tell in the pictures but those decals are freaking horrible.

Anyway, I just finished it. I was gonna put fuel tanks on the wing pylons but then I found this awesome picture of another plane with the same tail stripes loaded up like this with 10 HVAR's and 1000 pounders on the pylons and a 500 pounder on the centerline and I just had to do that. So here she is all loaded up fer bear... oh and after all this work I managed to crack the freaking canopy. I'll replace it later some day maybe.

I'm tempted to do an semi-whatif with AMKs F-14 (if/when it releases). Got the itch to slap some nose are on one of those beasts, even though they very seldom sported any (and when they did, it was never the "pinup" variety).

Bob, yeah we had snow, but it's all gone now and it's like 65F today. Weird weather for sure because it should be cold and snowy but oh well, I'll take any warm weather we can get!
