Nasty weather here

So have had some nasty weather here and none stop rain last night till this morning. Saw posted some links to a waterspout over the lake and cant find it but someone else posted a funnel somewhere close to town. Kind of cool. I figure the water spout was less than a click from my house.

I know, small beans compared to other places, but we don't often get anything like this. In between storms last night about 10 we had one super bright flash and a BIG clap a second or less later and lost all our electronics. Had to reset a lot of stuff and now I think I have to buy new power bar surge suppressors as they are all lit up. More storms tonight by the looks of it.

Yikes.

That's funny you mention that about the blast. Last week we had 5 days of high humidity and thunderstorms. One evening I just happened to be looking out the kitchen window and there was a blinding lightning flash, no thunder and immediate power loss. It was like something out of the newer War of the Worlds. The power outage was only my block and was out for about 6 hours. As the night progressed, the neighboring blocks went dim. Weirdest weather related power loss I've ever seen.

We have had transformers go up before, but this was different. Horizontal lightning the rest of the night.

Lost power on two different days that week too.

Yeah we lost power a couple of times over the past 2 weeks. Not for long. Last night was weird because it would pour hard enough to make a mist and then stop for up to half an hour or so and then come on down again and high winds. On a funny note some climate change scientists are stuck in the arctic. They were checking on melting because of global warming and their ship is frozen in now. And heard we have snow in the mountains by Calgary already. Winter is coming :rotf

You must be living on the wrong side of town, we didn't have any power bumps on the south side last night. :D

Cheers,

I live in Cleveland... we never are certain what the weather is, even while it is happening...

Too many beers...

Funny thing Rich is the lights didn't flicker. That bolt was uber close though. You could feel the concussion.

Plus there probably was no time to anticipate it.

Back in TX. my cordless got hit ( and melted ) by lightning. The only thing that I remember flickering was my eyelids and then the phone was dead... :S
