Moon Puppy's 75mm GMC M3 Halftrack

Hi Moon,

If we look closely and think that starting with this...

gmc210.jpg

... you ended up with something like this...

GMC260.jpg

... you just gotta consider the possibility of magic having something to do with the process.

And please do not have one of those "modesty fits" that seem to be common here: this is an oustandig job, mate!

So please accept our praise with grace and be happy that you are able to build such and awesome halftrack, with utter precision and true to life characteristics. This is soooo very cool!!! Here, have a little band, it's on me

When you get that thing finished, I'm pretty sure you're gonna try to start that engine: good luck with that!

Cheers and thanks for sharing!

The headlight lenses are definitely busted out, good thing Dragon molded that little light bulb in there.

It looks like an MG in a canvas cover in the back. I don't think this kit came with the pedestal right? Get out the tube stock and flat card I guess, would have been better for us to talk about that before the paint done got slung eh?

well I ain't too proud to go back and work at it again. I don't think I'm TOO far along. You think that's a .50? I have a .50 under a canvas in my stash. Came with the Gun Mount for the M2A1 I picked up. What do you think it's mounted on, the back wall?

Thanks for the kind words Fernao, I'm just trying to keep up with the rest of the folks here. ;)

MOONIE,

Yeah Buddy ! This is lookin' AWESOME !! Can't wait to see it a little more Weather beaten .

Will you be able to attend the AMPS Show in APRIL in FREDERICKSBURG V.A. April 6th-9th,2011 ? I would love to see it in Person !

Again Great Job.

ERIK

:) Looking good Bob!
I still can't comprehend how much brass work is on this ....I am in awe of a brass halftrack - soldering messiah! :cheer:
Nice base coat - weathering etc will bring thi baby up big time.

Ian.

Thank you Ian.

Erik unless something breaks loose I doubt I can make Fredricksburk, though I would love to tour the battle field there, but that trip is a little more than a day trip.

GMC266.jpg

had this in the stash of stuff. stuck it on a pole with some stock stuff for the base.

GMC267.jpg

some creative license on the mounting and bracing. I roughed up the base with the teeth of the JCL saw to suggest a large chunk of steel was cut with a torch and left untreated, slight rust showing up around the cuts. Might have gotten overboard with the rust pigments because it looks too red to me now. I had to rip off the rear stowable seat and it left some marks which will be treated with some rust streaking, more subtle than this base. The brace is just scrap PE strap and will be painted.

Ugly ugly ugly...
GMC270.jpg

And this is camo netting acting as camo...not to worry,(spent Sunday morning with coffee and Ken Abrams 5 part youtube show on making stowage on the bigscreen) more stowage will be added to make this look more natural.

Thanks to everyone for your help and for looking. hopefully next update will be the completed build.

Nice work brother, I don't know how you can sit through all five of those youtube vids. I just wanna punch that annoying fool in the face after about three minutes...

:X

Looks great Pup!! Is the cover for the 50cal epoxy sculpt?

Terry B)

I don't want to speak for the pup of moon but I believe that is a resin piece by Resicast (or someone)?

Not just me then :D

Seriously though I think the vids are great and are indeed a great help :)

Pups, looking good mate ! :peace

I think that the covered MG is by Trakz. If I recall, there was a covered .30 Cal in the set as well.

Moon Puppy, be on the lookout for the decals. My rather LAZY postman did not pick them up for three days. When I finally got my mail on Saturday, he had a Post-It note on them that they are late since I blocked my driveway...

OF COURSE I BLOCKED MY DRIVEWAY! I have just had it redone. no tip for this Bozo.

Regards,

The Resicast set comes with two covered .50's and one .30 ( HERE )

I've never even seen the Trakz set though, so maybe it is? :hmmm

I would have to dig it out but the .50 under the cover is from whoever put out the M49 gun mount that I used on the M2A1 so long ago. It is resin. It will get the appropriate number of washes and filters to make it look like a faded bad of canvas. I didn't want to dedicate one of the gun barrels I have from the M16 Griffin set I have.

I'll try to dig it up, just can't recall off the top o' da head.

Saul, thanks, the mailman's oath doesn't say anything about getting out of the vehicle because the drive is blocked...

Looks great from here M/P...
Keep up the great work...
Are you going to tie that antenna down to something. Otherwise, I'm not sure
it would be that bowed...
Shawn

Yes Shawn, the whip antenna will be tied down, but it would give a great sense of haulin' butt!!

M2A1011801.jpg

this is the gunmount set with the covered .50cal. if you know where that came from sing out.

Found it at the PA Vbench. Master's Productions Gun Ring I got from Mission Models. That's where the covered .50 came from.

I'm trying Luiz....thanks.

Hey Saul...

puppypoint.jpg

You, are the man!

Had an envelope in the mail today from far off lands. Thanks again!

Hey Moon Puppy.

Haven't seen this in a while but you really are doing an excellent job on this one.
Keep going as I got the feeling that this will be a real masterpiece. :mpup

Ruben
