This is a project I did for a magazine article. Here I will show the steps involved in turning an early turret into a later turret with cast cheek armor. This was a kit bashed project before Asuka released their M4 Sherman kit.
The first thing was to remove the pistol port and infill the opening with Milliput.
Next I roughed out a piece of card stock to account for the protruded casting.
Milliput and green putty was used to blend it all in.
And finally the turret was given a rough cast texture.
