I've presented more than a few Honor Models. Local vets, strangers and friends. There is still a little fine-tuning to do, like the forward support needs to be partially clear green, to blend with the background, but at what price, honor?
What was the value of a bunch of underwater warriors sneaking up on a Sov. warship to take pictures of the propellers? Then sneak back out again, past the Alfas and Sovremenny's, quiet as a tomb, to safeguard our Liberty?
You hug bombs on a BUFF in the frigid Dakota weather. What pause did a strike-ready fleet of mean, ol' bombers give to evil-doers the world over? How many lives were saved by attacks not made, for the promise of loud, proficient, military, devastation from the sky?
Chris Sherburn worked for VAQ-135 on the USS Kittyhawk. Is there a reason for a Carrier Strike Group to put to sea without the young men that maintain, ready, fuel and arm the jets? The ready room chairs are comfy, and the chow isn't too bad, but without flying, a 360-day cruise gets mighty monotonous. "The price of peace is eternal vigilance."
Barney served as a commissioned man in the cold war USAF. Remember when the threat of global nuclear destruction seemed real?
O-club, comfy beds and per diem aside.
Not just the act and oath of Service. The personal sacrifices made for those with a heart to serve. Missed holidays, birthdays, Jody, going to other countries where everyone there is a friggin' Foreigner? Can I get a "Harrrumph!"?
Just among our number are such men. I seek others that also deserve, perhaps, a physical kind of appreciation.
As this project nears the $100.00 mark, I am grateful for the recent website sales that drive such things.
I would do it anyway, but my thanks to TLARians, new and experienced, across our great Nation!
