Part of what causes back trouble is carrying a lot of extra weight around, which age causes to make worse. I currently weigh in on my scales before my shower at 184 to 190. I also have trouble with my right ankle swelling. Most of that swelling is caused by numerous sprains and damage over time. Left ankle has minimal swelling.
So, where am I going with this.
I have found that certain foods aggravate the swelling and also cause my weight to rise up, sometimes rather quickly. First off I never drink sugar free soda. NEVER! I do like Mtn Dew, and Root Beer, one has a lot of caffeine, the other none. The trouble with them is that they have Fructose as a sweetener, and that can cause my weight to jump up 5 pounds almost overnight if I drink a fair amount of them in a short time. They also cause me to feel a little less perky. Thus I have been mostly drinking hot tea (various flavors) with natural cane sugar (which is usually a tan color and not filtered to white). Avoiding the pop (for the most part) drinking more water and tea seems to be helping.
The next thing is foods with "seed oils" Canola, Cottonseed, Safflower seed, Peanut, are all seed oils with Canola being the worst. Canola should be outlawed it is so bad! Look it up, it is scary where it comes from and all the things it can cause.
With that, all chips and most crackers are made with seed oils. I "LOVE" potato chips of a couple of flavors, and really like some flavors of Cheez-It crackers which are made with a lot of seed oils. When I eat too much of them my ankle swells up "A LOT", the left ankle swells up like the right does at the least swollen (in the evenings) and my weight starts kicking up faster, and I feel worse. Get completely off the crackers, chips, and sodas, and the weight tends to hold at wherever it is at and the swelling in my ankles goes minimum to almost zero.
Yeah our food is full of crap that makes us sick unless you know how to do a lot of cooking (which I don't)
So my goal is to get down into my 170's. If I am a good boy during the week and do my Saturday fasting, I should get there and stay in a couple of months. IF! Problem is I tend to get cravings, and if not focused on stuff I stray and the weight and swelling go up.
Hope this gives some ideas. Try things out and observe how it affects you over several days.
