Maz 537 L Tractor.

Trumpeter kitted the Maz 537 L Airfield tractor. As keeping with soviet tradition it is often pressed into service for many other tasks.
To start with it is a amazing kit. There are a couple of short comings such as no engine and a huge open engine bay...... that issue is being addressed.
In my opinion this truck is so beautiful that the beauty is lost in the sheer size of the vehicle.......so what does a modeler do?????? They make it bigger and more interesting. To do this I decided to scratch build one of the airfield blowers that is attached to the front of the vehicle......hope you enjoy .

The blower cone is first done by creating the elliptical base followed by a internal frame work and then skinned out with detail added after

The dolley frame was a bit more challenging to get the correct attitude.....

This just shows the attachment and attitude of the blower unit. There is still the plumbing and wiring left to do

Awesome, I'll watch with interest. I have this kit and had plans to do it with a tanker and a helicopter. Been trying to find measurements and drawings of soviet tow bars/bridals. There is an engine out in resin but off the top of my head cant remember by who. I have been considering getting the Real Model conversion to make a heavy wrecker though.
Love the blower on yours. (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

First off thanks for the kind words.......M.P. This truck is beautiful , we will have you building soft skins with red stars sooner or later.
Second I apologize for the poor images of the unpainted scratch work.
Next is a little update.......

On a different not James I cant wait to see what you do with yours. I'm sure it will be both creative and stunning

I started with some kit bashing some scratch building and a generous helping of " looks right to me"....most of the engine will not be seen anyway so I just needed some filler.

Added a pneumatic arm to the hatch ....

Since there is now a engine in the bay the rest needed to be dressed out a bit ...... still following the lrtm rule.....

Next we got done to a bit of paint and weathering ..... this needed to be done before progressing forward....

I don't know of anyone making this engine:
