MacRobertson Air Race Line up

I had your Dad's bulldozer/jeep dio in mind when I sent that thick piece of foam board down to you. You are free to use it for any purpose you choose. Grosvenor House is looking very much the part!

As I do as well.

I'm just trying to find something more neutral to shoot against.

Black pin wash and gloss coat to seal it in.

I went out on a limb and tried a white oil wash for Black Magic.

I haven't sealed this yet, could pull it out. Too stark? for the BRG Green one I'm thinking black again.

I would try a medium brown/tan or a medium grey. The red one looks great, but I think just a hint on the black one will go further than the white.
Don't forget that a dark on the gold letters will be needed.

Both now have ever so slight pin washes. I still have some more painting on the Red one yet. Detail stuff. Now it's time to think about a base.

Looking at the pics now i think you nailed that British Racing Green. I know it varied over time but when i was kid my uncle used to do mini racing and he had a Mini Cooper S and that was BRG and i would say your race plane is pretty near :)

I ordered the Airfix D-Day set thinking to use the fuel truck but I have to say, bit dissapointed for my needs.

Comes with a Tilly which didn't exist in 1934 and a Bedford fuel truck which didn't come around till 1937. I knew this going in but thought I could use some of this stuff for this project. Found that the figures and several of the support hardware is that soft "army men" plastic. Not very rigid.
So I got a play set to play with. I'll build the Typhoon at some point and the paint brushes look nice. I'll keep on searching.

the sets we talked about earlier seem to be rare these days. I have trust issues with some sites, this came off amazon.

Meh, it'll be something to play with one day. I got to get a base built for this then maybe think about the support stuff.
