MacRobertson Air Race Line up

Nice save! I can easily see how much more accurate the 1/72 SBS DH.88 Comet is than the 1957 Airfix tooling. I suspect a new tool 1/72 Comet is on the way from jolly old England. Time will tell.

Years ago I got a bag full of gently used rasp and bits from my dentist. They have come in hand lately.

First, secure the green one and clean up the broken tail skid. Pull out the jig @jknaus was so kind to send me and then razor saw down the middle of the mount that it attaches. Open up that slot with increasing sizes of rasp, ignoring the pain they caused some poor soul during a root canal. Then get some bits of brass shaped up with the dremal.

Liberal application of thin CA and I think I got it.

It might stand a bit proud, I could sand it down a smig. I'll probably get back to some painting tomorrow.

Black Magic is up!

Fighting tooth and nail, the white metal is crumbling. That strut you see should be like a Y. Might make another with brass if I'm feeling cute but I really doubt it'll be missed, the previous (award winning) build had them missing because it was a PITA to install.

The Comet Flight is up on their legs!

Now what's next? Those gear pants can't be that tough. Some clear coats. Stickers. Got to go back to the Gee Bee and see where I left off. I think everyone needs props then a base.

Rather colorful now, got clear coats on everyone.

Pretty sure the UK folks don't fly on the wrong side like they drive. :tomato: So Right side is green, left side is red.

and the Gee Bee is up on her wheels and still dry fitting the engine.

Got some light rigging to do, debating EZ line or something more rigid.

I'm rebuilding the landing gear on the Gee Bee. I can do better and I forgot to add the landing lights that requires some drilling.
