HMS Illustrious returned to Portsmouth for the final time prior to her retirement after 32 years of service. Last of the Invincible Class carriers, there are hopes she will become a floating museum.

HMS Illustrious

Cheers,

And that's such a young class of ships to be retiring already. Wait...30 years, is that young now??

Making way for HMS Queen Elizabeth. She was floated just last week, outfitting until end of 2015, sea trials in 2016, commissioning in 2017, initial operating capability in 2018, fully operational in 2020. That's the plan anyway.

Then what to do with the Prince of Wales.

Depends which side of 30 you're on.

Cheers,
Rich
