Put a bid on this awhile ago and no one else is biting so in an hour i may own it.

I know it will need work being a Lindberg kit, but i'm curious if anyone here has built the thing- only reason i bid is because I'm not paying 50 bucks for the Italeri versions in 1/35 and I have always wanted a Higgins boat in this scale.

No link because i know how some here feel about posting for evilbay! lol

It was a lame joke- its a Linberg kit, not very popular and probably very soft cheap styrene, but it was just to weird of a subject not to to go for.

Thanks for posting barney, i found an old review of the kit, but i didnt save it and now i cant find it! But the final build looks decent, with some work it could be better. No matter what its still a nice subject-

If I was a ship builder, this would be a great subject for a Diorama! All the possibilities!

I won it for 16.50 shipped to me, the guy said he was mailing it from VA on Wed. That was a little more than I wanted to pay, but i set my max at 12 bucks, someone tried to get it but they didnt pass the max, but that raised the bid. You know how that goes there.

After i set the max i found something really nuts with 8 minutes left and sniped it- winning that made me regret i bid on the higgins boat, but wait and you'll understand.

Here it is in all it's glory.. not alot of pieces- but alot of room to improve for sure! I'm gonna enjoy this!
One day...

Are you going to post this in the Latest Acquisitions thread as well?

Need references?

Regards,

Sure i'll post it there, Was thinking that could be redundant, but i'll pop it up.

And a hearty YEAH! To your reference request Saul, found a few pieces myself- but i dont even know what this boats designation number was- there were several different Higgins boats with the drop front.

Thanks Saul- you do realize there are pics in that link of a ground up rebuild right? great find!

Yes, it is a recreation using factory plans. These plans were available a few years ago in the Journal of the Nautical Research Guild. Sadly, I don't know which issue and they don't have an online index.

Regards,
