Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Latest Acquisitions

I know, just saw that email come in from them. May be worth some lunch money for those guns!

They are gorgeous. I have a couple of Vickers guns, a Lewis, and a couple of Spandaus and have just ordered the Parabelums. I will use a Spandau and Parabelum on my Hannover. Be aware though that they are true to scale and so you need to do some work on the WNW mounts for them to fit. I will use the new Taurus muzzles for my Spandaus though as they look better.

Nice guns, James (y)

This C-45 is not quite what I expected it to be in modern times.

This kit has been over simplified, and I've already ordered Vector P&W 985's to replace the soft detailed kit parts. No cooling vanes on the cylinders :hmmm

Old Dog mentioned they were a disappointment in his review. ICM is one of the companies I kind of steer clear of unless there is something that no one else makes. Unfortunately the Bug Smasher hasnt been made by anyone else I dont think. Will be interested in whether the new engine will make it worth while or not. Were you going to do a Canadian bird?

Yep, I was shooting for a Canadian 3N. First I have to consider how to approach scratching-up the astrodome.
I like this ICM C-45 kit (y) .It is overpriced in my opinion, and I'm thinking it will be sold for cheaper in the future, just like the P-51 and Spitfire series.

I think a squash mold would be easiest. Sand some appropriate sided round wood stock to shape. Staple a piece if clear plastic sheet to a piece of thin plywood with a round hole slightly larger than the wood stock. Hold over the stove till the plastic starts to become soft and then push the rod through it to an appropriate depth and viola. But that was probably the plan anyways :) Still looking forward to watching the build when you do it. Parked one of these many moons ago and fell for it.

Got mine in the mail today. Looks like I'll be ordering the new engines too. I've got the long nacelle and modified inner wing leading edge resin mods for post war Expeditors coming from Lonestar Models. And waiting for Belcher's decals to come out.

Cheers,
Rick

Got these straight from Asia. The decals are a gift for my reference assistance (guess for which markings):

Oh My! I had no idea they put floats on an Anson... Looks like something you'd see in the Alaskan bush!

I've been reading up on it Barney, apparently it didn't fly. The Cheetah engines weren't powerful enough to lift it with the floats on. It was only used as a trainer for pilots for the Sunderlands. They used it to practice approaches for tying up to moorings. You wouldn't want to be in a big crosswind in a Sunderland on your first attempt at mooring those big birds!

I agree though, it looks like a bush plane!

I bet if they had put some big P&W Major Wasp on that thing it would have lifted it out of the water (if it didn't sink it) :rotf
