Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Well if you wait a bit James, Airfix is bringing out a new mold 1/72 Vampire some time this year. Knowing Airfix's new molds it will be a LOT easier than that one :D

Couple of things last week. My challenging Vampire (What was going through my head when I decided to do this????)

What about landing gear, are they included?

I know i tried vacu formed aiplane kits some 20-30 years ago and i never managed to get anywhere with it, it was a swedish plane that i know....a B18 i think

you had to scratch landing gear and interior etc. and the fit was not the best, my brother managed to get further with he's kit than me but i don't think he finnished that one either.

What you see is what you get MP. No instructions, no extras. Everything will have to be scratched. Last Vac I did was an RF-101 conversion by Koster Aero Enterprises and an attempt at a Havok by Koster also.

Over the last two weeks, I have received the following. I did not take a photo yet of the Dragon T19 Halftrack I also received in a trade:

These sprues are to be released separately and do look nice.

Got this thinking it was the type used on the GMC (I have the Hobby Boss kit) but it turns out the British one (which I luckily have) has the correct sight mounts.

Found that I have a duplicate, I may sell it off as I don't plan on buying more Centauros.

that bofors gun looks nice :) is there any figures in it?
Built the italeri one and i'm a bit dissapointed especially in the figures (the gun can be hidden under a tarp so that's no problem :D

Bronco makes a British Bofors gun crew and Italleri has a Bofors gun cre in their PT boat figures set.

Cheers

One more, even though it was mentioned but not shown:

Regards,

I'd love to see detailed info on how that howitzer as mounted on that halftrack. I have the ACE M-1 105mm Howitzer already and I want to get another Academy halftrack to make one of these T-19's in 1/72 scale.

Are you going to add the auxilary fuel tank at the stern?

Only if I find out how the exhaust was rerouted.

Regards,

I asked on a PT Boat forum about that Slipper Fuel Tank (aka Auxilary Fuel Tank) and the exhausts location. The replys from PT boat experts say that when the slipper tank was on the boat the boat exhaust were in their normal position. The heat from the exhaust was one reason the sliper tank never entered service. Also that slipper tank and scheme on your image was a STATESIDE SCHEME USED BEFORE THE BOAT WENT TO ITS TOP. Take a look at the topmost flag at the center top of the mast. That is the ELCO Company Penant.

Cheers
