Spectacular! I am amazed at all the attention to the minutest detail that you are doing. Simply stunning work.

Thanks for all your positive comments guys! It is really appreciated and makes me want to give you something new or a tidbit that might assist sometime down the road.

Here is the basic installment and it includes fixing a bent zinc casting (without breaking it). Next time I will have the layouts on this a little better. I am still trying to figure out things as I go.

I will have some more later on. Probably over the weekend, I also found the photos I took of making one of the little turned masters so that will be next.

Hope you enjoyed the post and I am always open to comments and suggestions.

Very cool. Have you complained to the company about the shipping practice? With the amount this costs I would think they should do something unless they figure they have you hooked.

I need to contact them anyway about my card changing and that was going to be a big gripe. I would't care if it was wadded newspaper or something along that line. As empty as the box is there needs to be something in there to secure the contents.

Large Custom Millennium Falcon (new photos)

Today I called customer service and got the card change fixed, and discussed the issues I had found in things. I think the guy was a little rattled when I told him my shipments had come in with no packing. The parts and books just rattling around in the box.

I also brought up one issue I had seen repeatedly in their magazine, that was red text over a dark backround. Can hardly see the text let alone read it. Surprised the heck out of me when I first saw it. A professional publisher doing a big mistake like that.

I was also able to get the next shipment bumped up a couple of weeks, so I should see shipment #4 in the next week or so. I can only do that since I am behind by a couple of months to the US release. :woohoo:

With that I know you all are just waiting for some more cuttee

I'm glade u were able to fix the issues and just wow on your build and I wish I could get my hands on a lathe like that, one day! :woohoo:

That was fast Trog!

Truth be told Trog, I bought it originally because I was setting up to possibly do trade work watch repair and a lathe is supposedly neccessary. Well I use it about 1 in 20 times compared to my small mill. The occasional hobby uses actually help keep my skills up on it for the rare times when I do need to use it for watch repair.

The file guide was one little accessory tool I made one weekend when I wanted to make some hex tools. I made them out of bronze to use for guides to cut plastic punches into hex shapes for nuts and bolt heads. Made a tool to make more tools. That is one of the neat things about all this.

Thanks for looking in!

It's been a bit of a screwed up weekend eh what. Taking horse pills for the antibiotics and then I have Meclizine for the dizzies. If I take the Mec stuff it knoccks me out for about 20 hours. Even if I wake up I am too woozy to do anything so Saturday was all sleepy time. Passed on that today and dealt with the slight touches of dizzy.

So you ask what did I do that was constructive? I fired up my scanner and scanned in a number of the flat parts so I can work on sizing and detailing. Have the cockpit about halfway worked out. It is a real mess in the kit.

Supposedly the kit is 1/43 scale. Outside dimensions it might well be. Cockpit wise though the doorway is all that is that scale. Everything else seems to be about 1/36 scale and no wonder it is all cramped up. Also the door needs to drop down a ways as it is way too high in the back wall.

After fiddling around with sizes and getting a good feel on how the existing parts fit, I figured out that "to look right" I will have to scale the interior walls and such to 1/39.5 scale. Yeah it is an odd duck scale, but the proportions start fitting together properly and it fills out the space nicely. Also the front floor is just about right though I will probably make a new part as the console is all wrong too. I also think the Porche seats they used are sized even bigger than the other stuff, but I will do some compparisons later on. At a guess I think they would seat a large Sumo wrestler or a small relative of Jabba the Hutt comfortably. :idonno

Once I work out all the parts sizes I will work out the panel details. I think I can light it all up without a ton of fiber optics or LEDs. :hmmm

And

Never fear there are still more pictures on the way. :smack

Next will be the finished assembly for the upper turret TP-3 for now. I don't think the rest of this should take as much redo on the outside. (I hope) "famous last words" eh?

Looking amazing I can't wait for more pics :drool

The force is strong with u Paul! :geek

Large Custom Millennium Falcon (more new pics)

Thanks Trog and Bob! I never really know if anyone cares about these off in left field builds or not.

Here is the finish of all the redo on the Turret. :dance

Hope you guys like what you see, it seems like there really isn't that much done, and once the whole kit starts coming together I guess there will be a ton of this stuff just scattered all over the place on it.

Those that have had anything to do with it will know the difference as will I. That is what is probably most important. Here we go. . .

That's it for this modification, next up is the cockpit with lighting and a number of things that I will be experimenting with. I will be pushing the envelope with the lighting attempt. If it works as I "THINK" it should work it will be awesome! :woohoo:

If not, meh. Won't worry about it.

Any questions about how I did something, please do ask, I probably missed posting some of the things I did. You know how it goes, get to building and forget all about the camera.

Thanks for looking in!
