Finally made a start on my Bugatti 35B.
Paddy's thread and various builds I have been following on YouTube and other forums will certainly allow me to avoid certain pitfalls plus some really good tips generally. The kit is quite good overall, although some of the finer details like bolt heads etc look slightly 'soft' to me when compared to Tamiya for example.
The gearbox needed some correction as pointed out in Paddy's build.I had to carefully razor saw off the details that needed to be re positioned the opposite way around on one end of the gearbox. Also, referring to the Haynes book the two middle bolt heads on the gear box top are both individually offset from the centre line. Having sorted that out I am sure that there will be other small things up for improvement along the way. One of the weirdest things about the kit instructions is that there are raised pips behind the gauge positions. The instructions would have the builder cut precise lengths of tube to push onto them. After that, no instructions or diagram as to where those bits of tube have to go to. Once the bodywork goes on the area will be unseen, so I will not be bothering with it. Looking at Paddy's build, in one picture before the body was fitted, it would appear that he didn't bother with them either.
Onwards and upwards. Still plenty to be getting on with !
