Fall Modelfest Photos Duncan, SC

Iron Mike

Master At Arms And Resident Curmudgeon
Hello friends! Today was the day of the Fall Modelfest in sunny Duncan, South Carolina. I met up with Phantom II and we headed south to rendezvous with the Moon Puppy for a little pillaging. We got there right after the doors opened and hit the vendors HARD! There were some fantastic deals from a good number of vendors. The models were coming in pretty fast, so after we loaded our loot into the car, we went back in to take more photos. Here's a cross section of what was there. I should mention that although the venue is spacious and had loads of tables, the lighting leaves much to be desired.

I got to visit with lots of old friends and made a couple new ones, it was a ball! We were hungry, so we adjourned to somewhere for lunch :D and then went to Woodcraft. I found a beautiful piece of walnut that will yield several bases for my builds. After the wood store, we stopped at the local hobby shop, just to check it out. We found a few deals and headed home. Here's a shot of my share of the pillaging, it was a good day indeed.

So MoonPuppy, how is that HK Models B-25? Believe it or not, I have not peeked inside the prize one!

Regards,

Thanks for sharing these ,Mike!
Some fine builds there...tell Christian to smile next time you take his picture. :fencing

Nice haul you got your self,is that a resin zimmerit sheet I spot in the middle?

Greetings,Ron.

What did I tell you about sneak shots, I need heads up so I can lift my chins!

That gentleman I was talking to is named Ken, sorry, missed your last name, aka Foiler at LSP. He's the creator of those wonderful NMF jets.

Saul what little I looked at looked very nice, I didn't get a good inspection but I did see the engines have a pretty high part count. I still don't think I want to tackle one...but maybe...:mpup

Had a really good time and got a really great deal on the Academy Tiger and the Famo with the trailer. Just to keep my aircraft roots, also got a Boeing Stratocruiser :pilot

Ron I couldn't find the Beer Garden or the sausages on the grill. We actually had to leave the place to get a beer! :drinks

I agree Ron. A little warning would be good.

I think after looking at those beautiful airplanes I was just simply aghast.

As nice as the pictures are they don't really capture the realistic look of the builds.

They appear very life like. Particularly the F-100. The others would benefit a little more aging of the metal but Time will cure that. True works of art (y)

Did you notice MP was not in uniform ? :rotf

By the way, the FW 189 is worth second and third glances. That is not a kit . It is scratch built in 1/32 scale

Cheers, Christian B)

Well crap, I completely forgot all about this show.

Its probably just as well, I was sick all weekend, so I probably wouldnt have been able to make it anyway. Looks like a good time was had by all.

Wasn't my fault, I asked Cindy where it was but since she was still asleep all I got was.. hrreemmpp. :mpup

I was hoping to make it to this one, hoping the vendor selection would be better than the show in Columbia. Oh well, there are other shows, haha.

Lots of nice work.

Pegasus make two of the Martian War Machine diorama kits - one is bare plastic, the other
is copper chrome plated.

Cool pics
