F-4 Phantom help

Hey guys - I'm trying to stock up on some aftermarket for some upcoming builds. I have the new Academy F-4C that I am going to build as an AFRES aircraft during the 80's. My question is would this aircraft have the MK-5 bang seats or would it have been upgraded to the MK-7s?

Thanks for the help!
Mike

Mike I did some reading around, can't say I found any definitive information but check this out.

From Martin-Baker themselves. The MK7 was a later, more advanced seat and you're looking at the 80s I would say you can't go wrong with using the MK7. Really wouldn't be wrong with either but no reason why the Reserves wouldn't have better equipment.

I agree Mk7's (almost) definitely. Checked my old D&S books, Koku Fans' and Osprey refs. All concur.

Model-on, sir !!

Thanks guys. Found out from another forum that aircraft were all retrofitted with the MK-7 in the late 60s. I'm sure there were exceptions, but I'm going to plan on using the MK-7.

Thanks again!

That's what I was thinking, especially being in the Reserves, I knew a guy who was an A& pilot in SCANG. Told me that after they got all the avionic upgraded that the USAF tried to get them back in service but SCANG refused, told them they would be glad to support the USAF anytime they needed help...:rotf
