Ever have a bottle of paint w/ too much solvent?

Just curious if anyone else has ever had a bottle of paint that had too much solvent in it?

I've got 2 bottles of Floquil Dust paint that just seems to have way too much solvent in them. When shaking the bottles up to mix up the settled pigment, the paint is almost like dirty thinner and impossible to paint w/.

Last night I pulled a lot of the solvent out of both bottles and it seems to have helped quite a bit, but I've never seen this before. The one advantage is they seem to be ready to airbrush right out of the bottle now. The paint is still pretty thin.

Actually, Floquil Dust is supposed to be like that, it's not like their other paints at all.

It's more of a wash/filter like consistency and when misted on lightly it looks like there is nothing coming out of the airbrush, but don't keep spraying more and more or else the next morning, the model looks like it is covered in white powder.

Here is an old build, lightly misted with Floquil Dust:

They should have labeled it differently or at least gave some idea on the label of what it was and how to use it. The first time I used it I sprayed and sprayed and nothing... it looked like I was spraying bare thinner on my model, so I applied even more. Frustrated, I set it aside, cleaned my airbrush and walked away.

The next day I found a powdered doughnut where my model once was. Lesson learned. ;)

That's a great looking halftrack Ken! (y)

I don't know how they are nowadays, but Revell enamels did have too much solvent to my liking.[that was way back in the 80's]
Humbrol enamels are my weapon of choise when working with enamels. :)

Greetings,Ron.
