Error screens

How many are getting an error screen with this on it?

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I get this all the time and it is only on this site. Just curious.

We've had some issues with server load Paul but not lately as far as I know.

I'm curious if anyone else gets this on a regular basis.

Personally, I rarely see that, and it's not because i'm an admin, if the webserver was acting up it would be doing it with me just as much as anyone else.

Think you should look at making sure Firefox and any addons are up to date. Site actually runs better under Firefox than IE.

I haven't had that problem, but I had experienced slow page loading and, for some reason, when I am trying to post sometimes it gives me a big error screen and post doesn't go through.

Another thing is that from home PC, clicking on MY TOPICS takes me to "No new private messages" screen". Laptop works fine. Both IE home PC is IE 9, laptop IE 8 I think (will check later).

Any ideas ?

Laurence please get a screen shot of that error message.

Slow page load is a problem with us from time to time, especially if Jeff is uploading a new batch of pictures. I'm afraid we've reached a point that we may need to up our services with the host to allow more connections at one time.

For the redirected menu, think something has gotten buggered up (technical term) in your cache, run the CCleaner on that system and let me know. Firefox is the suggested browser for our site, Chrome as well.

Let's see if this works ....

Yikes...yeah that's the one that makes my heart stop.

Laurence I checked the logs and find nothing that would cause that. The only thing I can think of is since we're hosted in the US there is some delay that is causing some of the PGP scripts to time out with you in AU.

Let me look into what could be causing this but please be patient.

I am running both Firefox & Safari on my ibook Pro... no problems, except at school... but we have no bandwidth there...

I was thinking it could be the IE 8/9 problem as at work I often have issues when trying to respond to threads. Or it could be the security software they use. I havent seen the 500 error caused by it though. Is there any chance you might try Firefox and see if the issue persists? We all have our favorite browsers and really we arent trying to force anyone to go to a particular browser, but so far Firefox seems to be the steadiest. If you are willing to try it and the problem continues it does give us a bit more info to work with in trying to debug the issue.

I would occasionally get the errors that Paul mentioned when I was on from work but I think it was a bandwidth problem. Since I have now retired, I won't be having that problem at work. I have not seen it at all from home with a wide band connection and Firefox.

Pretty sure this is Internet Explorer related, we've always had a problem with IE.

Guys, if you'll don't mind, give Firefox a try and let me know if you get those errors.

I'll poke around with the site in IE and see if I can find the script that's timing out.

Thanks guys, not a problem. I'll get Fox installed and give it a go. The other option is to use Mrs' PC but I'd have to :fencing her for that. She's quite attached to that PC and every time I come near it's met with a :smack

FireFox trials ahoy :D
