I think you'll like Firefox Laurence, you really would enjoy it with the AdBlockPlus https://adblockplus.org Addin. It blocks a great number of those annoying internet ads that are all over the news sites. Just install it, subscribe to one of the subscriptions, or multiple subscriptions and see the internet as it's intended to be seen. :geek

I am "FireFoxing" now and it already feels better. The pages loaded 10 times quicker, literally.

I have used FF before, when we only had one PC. Faithful browser for over 5 years I have to say, but that machine was handed over to the lady. I got myself a brand new second hand HP xw4600 and have only used IE as it came with it.

That's a good machine, our company is a HP only shop and I'm glad of it.

At one point not long ago I was telling folks that if you're using IE I can't support you with this site. They made some changed in the IE code that work the scripts that run here, most notably the image resizing.

Welcome to the Internets Wulf! :geek

Yup, pretty happy with it, HP2301 LCD works nicely too.

Always used HP where possible - big fan of Compaq prior to that, my first love was the Everex Step Megacube - ancient history :geek

Never heard of that, wonder what frame rate you'd get on Doom :rotf

There's a couple of old games I wouldn't mind building up an old pre pentium machine for. Red Baron being one of them. :snoopy

Doom ..........sweeeeeeeeet memories

The x2301 - LED, full HD 8Mil:1 dynamic contrast, 3ms, all connectors you can think of, Microthin and all that.

Playing Doom 1 on a network that used Coax cable, MS-DOS and the very long command line to launch it....man, those were interesting days :v

Shoot, making MS Flight Simulator (5" floppy) run smooth is why I started learning hardware!

Doom and Heretic on LAN.

Back then it was how we tested the hardware, playing network games. Creative Labs Sound BLaster and SMC LAN card, 15" CRT Colour monitor. If it didn't crash it was deemed to have passed QC :geek :D

:D :D it achieved the desired result - as an added bonus it was lots of fun :mpup

As a final demo to the customer we used to put the game on - they were glued to the screen
