curiously Eduard gives two sets of fuselage statement? decals but shows only the port side applied, Im very tempted to do the stb side as well otherwise it's just a single Russian star, what you all reckon? decals 24 and 38

If it were me, I'd go for it!

quite a few Russian birds had different statements on both sides. I think it would look good!

It does look great so far by the way!

ok decals on stb side as well now, all finished, will leave for a day before the final flatcoat, then onto the home run.

here's one set of figures done too, Note - the lighting makes the faces really weird!! discount that.

The P-40 isn't for this one!!

Cheers!

Looking good Phil. I like those figures and that commander looks very Russian indeed!
Can't wait to see all this come together. (y)

Could be if you wanted it...

I may even have decals for it!

Regards,

Saul!!!!

That's a Sharkmouth Flying Tigers bird!!!

How could you even suggest that!!!!

:D :D :D :D

Thanks for your kind offer but I've not built a ''Tigers'' P-40 and do love those markings - I could use the other two ''right'' colour numbers from Gunze, Model Master or Humbrol for it though. all they say is ''light brown, light blue, - other is Olive drab which is obvious ;)

progress from today on and off and tonight.

prop housing now correctly fitted after a horridly scary removal of the part, it sat to high so when the spinner cap was placed onto the prop assembly and fitted into the housing, it fouled on the extended piece at the top of the nose, causing a huge gap. It's now nicely recessed with the correct spacing and spins good.

Looking sweet Phil, what's up with those lines top of the nose?

Eduard 1/48 IL-2M Shturmovik

Phil , I can honestly say that I like the paint job. Great model and effort from your part.

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks James, you would enjoy the kit I'm sure.

MP they are Low level bombing reference lines

Thanks Christian, just a little bit left to go to the finish.

Eduard 1/48 IL-2M Shturmovik

That shot with the prop blur looks really cool! The figures look great, I'd say you nailed the colors. (y)

Cheers guys!

This is a nice kit to do, if you can get hold of one you will enjoy the build.

You will have to dry fit that prop assembly with spinner cap fitted when the fuselage is together to avoid the mishap I had but apart from that it's a sweet build.

I posed the rear gunners canopy open, and just found a photo showing a hold strap so will add that later.

Undecided if I will have the pilots canopy open or closed so it's just blu taced at the moment.

I think the brass tube worked well for the surprisingly poor renditions of the gun barrels the kit offered as they give you a good sprinkling of small detailed parts that make this kit a real winner in my eyes.

So here is my ''Flying Tank''
