Dornier Do-17Z, Kitech 1/48

You are way too modest Hubert. Your work is always top shelf. I have been watching it for the past year and a half and dont think many come close to your stuff. :geek

You are way too modest Hubert.

I agree! I have seen his models up close and personal and the finish is of a very high standard, enough so that I am now using the same paints he does but still don't achieve his results!

Regards,

He does oustanding work with kits that most people pass up. I always look forward to seeing Hubert's builds.

Hubert,

You are a braver man than I am... Keep up the great work... Is this kit just a re-pop of the dread HobbyCraft banana?

I started painting - yellow quick identification markings, underside and the first color main cammo are done. Unfortunately, after paint the green color I discovered that I screwed a little with gaps filling and sanding of a merger fuselage with wings and horizontal stabilizers. I had to "clean" there a little and fill gaps by Surfacer.

Bugs fixed (over treated, sanded and painted). Even though I made the first tentative attempts with shading - came out like that and I feel it more the effect of "matting" rather than real changes in tone color. I wonder whether the obtained effect damned after application varnish under the decals, or not. Anyway, now I can mask under the second color ...

With that kit Hubert, you have done an excellent job, It looks stunning and the weathering looks spot on. Continue on my friend...

I test alternative version of the masking - the edges will be secured in a tack-it mass rollers, so I optimistically assume that it will come out pretty nice ...

Looks like the outcome should be good. I have the old Monogram DO 17 planned in the Finnish colors.
I hope it's not too long before I get to it.

cheers, Christian B)

I did this with my He111- worked like a charm! This is shaping up beautifully, Dewertus- cheers!

An alternative way of masking has passed - this met-hod is faster and easier. In some places will be required a small retouching but also on previous methods it was happened to me. Generally, I am content.

After retouching the whole model I will paint glossy Agama acrylic, on this will go decals, wash and minor dirty and scratches and abrasions.

I'm tempted finish Dornier in the winter cammo, but I don't know if I will want to ... :hmmm
