Dora 1/35

Bob thanks, all this small details make the model more accurate and interesting, plus I love scratch building

James, I always wanted to make my dora different from all the others out there, plus correct as many errors and add as many details as I can in my kit

Hi my friends, finally have taken some time to do the last chapter of the Dora journey. its being a while since my last post, but finally ended the work I started so many years ago, currently have being working on about 5 models at the same time, but made a halt to finish the Dora and here it is

The schatton aluminum shells and cases are primed and painted. a white stripe is painted on the shells as seen on some of the videos of the gun
1.jpg

the same with the case, I have seen a thin black line on some photos but on the videos it has a white band painted on it.

next I printed some decals to simulate the markings on the cases and powder charges
4.jpg

again looking at the videos I made a scketch of the position of the markings

now I modified the elevator car and the elevator with magnets in case I need to take the elevators platform appart for transport.

a hole is drilled for the first magnet
10.png

next a rectangular hole is made for the second one
11.jpg

12.jpg

I 3d printed a rectangular base for the second magnet
13.jpg

14.jpg

now the elevator received two bases for the corresponding magnets
15.jpg

the 3d printed bases ready to install under the elevator

now the elevator stays in place with out the need of gluing it, if I need to remove it just pull it up and disconnect the pulley from it

playing a bit with photoshop I added a background photo

I printed a couple of maps of the savastopol area for the officers

all the figures painted and in place

Greg thanks, it took a long time, but there was so many mods and added details made to it. many times I took a breack from it for months. I have never cut and modified so many parts of a model as I did with this one, but at the end you get to look at all that effort pay off. its worth it!

James, thanks my friend!

WOW! What a project!
What a ride, thank you for posting all of your hard work over the last 10 years? Just incredible and congratulations on completing this massive project and for the inspiration it gives.......
:tens: :tens: :notworthy

I can honestly post this as Bob and I talked about this build when on one of my visits to him. He was following this build quite closely as he also had one of these kits in his stash. Had plans to build it up as during assembly or half assembled probably with bits, pieces and parts all over.

Bob Letterman would have loved the way you finished this build.
