Hi to all,
Work on the cars continues, the roofs are done and now details are added

The ladders are next, this are made with .80 wire
P8F6LqH.jpg

Five steps 15mm wide are made, this are positioned 10mm apart from the bottom up and 5mm from the side, the top step is placed 10mm from the door edge

The position of the steps is marked

Now the floors are made using .70 styrene sheet, measuring 87 x 95mm
tvW3X8Y.jpg

To make the floors even with the entrance step I used 4 pieces of angle L of 1.70 x 6.3 x 6.3mm
One for each corner

The angles are glued to the corners

With the floors done now the roof panels can be installed

The roof panels measure 280mm long x 145mm wide, made with .70 styrene sheet

The panels are centered and I started gluing it from the middle down to one side, then the other
Side, holding it with masking tape and clamps

Using clamps and a steel ruler the sides a glued to the side panels

Now the side ladders are made, I used 2.4 x 2.4 angle to make the parts
You need 16 pieces 24mm long and 16 pieces 12mm long for each car
fApHjWE.jpg

One side of each of the 24mm pieces is cut in a 45 angle

The parts are glued together

From the bottom up make a mark at 12mm to start an angle finishing at 1.2mm on the top

After all 8 ladders are made I started the construction of the long handle support
One for each corner of the car
GP41Znv.jpg

Using the same 2.4 x 2.4 angle cut 8 pieces 48mm long and make 8 20mm long handles
With .80 wire, the handle is glued 10mm from the top of the platform floor

NPReFYG.jpg

Bafter the ladders are glued in place you need to mark an opening on the side wall
It measures 3mm tall x 1mm on each side
rI7B9Oq.jpg

The marks are done 3 x 1 x 1
ttUhslB.jpg

A starting hole is made with a drill bit
n7AGV3e.jpg

With the knife the hole is cut

The ladder is finished with 6 bolts 3 on each side, the same for the handle support bar

Your build is the reason i sold mine .....to much work for me adding the missing detail and correct the flaws.

Fantastic work, truly spectacular. Its funny though, I sat and tried to figure out what you were going to used the fur for in the build. Then it dawned on me that that was the picture on the mat you were working on. Laughed at myself for that :)

Cheers, Christian B)

Mike, Moon poppy and Christian thanks!

Piet thanks, and now I feel guilty for you selling your Dora

Always a pleasure to see one of your updates (y)

Cheers, Christian B)

I have thought about trying to obtain one of these and even though I have a thing for large aircraft, they just don't match this for just how massive it is and how much space it will take.

I really like how this is turning out and really appreciate just how much work it is taking to get it right.

James, christian yes that is a gorilla glue cutting mat a friend gave me. lol the fur does looks realistic on some of the photos. :D

Thanks Paul, its really massive, with the ammo cars the base is going to be about
6.5 feet long and about 2 feet wide :gogo :woohoo: its a monster
