Mike, yes on the snow. Chris Jerret turned me on to a different technique to do melting snow, I just have to collect the ingredients, but snow up top is one of the things on the to do list. I also want to add some spare track pins.

Well the next time you visit the family up north just have to plan to detour to the other side of the lake!

Wow, it gets better every picture . I do agree with the rope though it looks too fresh.

It seemms that the Germans were big on returning broken items back for refururbishing

Cheers, Christian B)

Perfecto John. those figures are really nice!

White Micro balloons and white pigments work well for me as it can easily be slushed or made to look blown by wind - if your interested MK3J STALINGRAD DIO shows what it turns out like (old but still ok).

It may provide an out if what you are planning doesn't work out.

Nice scene - I remember it well. Interesting way to do snow.

Ian and John,

VLS used to buy thermoplastic micro-balloons by the huge industrial containers. We packaged it and sold tens of thousands. I have a few packages but would love to buy it in smaller quantities. The containers we used to buy were around $800 each. I have only used snow in one diorama but the stuff works great as it is actually scale snow. It is so fine. If you are interested, go to this link.

I actually have put together quite a few snow scenes, and the product that I found works the best is clear methyl methacrylate polymer. It isn't spherical in shape, thus is actually reflects light. The particles are so small that the reflections are just like cold snow on sunny day. And as you can see below, actually appear "fluffy".

Hey John!

You're right. That stuff you used as snow looks great! Where do you get it?

And, by the way, I absolutely love the whitewash weathering on that panzer III !! Beautiful!

Masterful work!
Thanks for taking us along. I'm inspired to tackle some things that I have stalled on.

Cheers,

Bill

Some more progress. Bob the snow is just acrylic monomer, available from any nail salon supplier.
