Destroyed Iraqi T-69II

Thanks Randy and James. With all those thumbs up I take it you like how it's turned out.

With the snow on it's way, I will get back to working on the T-62 m-comp.for an Afghan T-62.

That will be interesting. I have decals and book and a few mags and the Trumpeter kit to build an Afghan T-62. Will be nice to see how you do it first though

Sorry I missed commenting on this Rob, fantastic work. placed in the right setting it would be hard to tell if it's real or not. just outstanding! (y):

Thanks James and Bob

Right after posting the final pics of the T-69, I started working on the T-62 comp. I had already started the main parts and final drive housings, but wasn't too happy with it so I spent another 4 hours making better F-drives. This set will have a few extra parts in it. I should have it done in the next 2-3 weeks, then it's off to Celticwerks for casting. It should be ready around the middle of March.

Beautiful stuff Rob , ........... very cool !!!

You mentioned in Hood's post on the Char about your next wreck , .......... which makes me ask , ...... what's next ?

Rob,

No idea how I missed this one? That is simply fantastic! I love wrecked models! I don't think a lot of people know the work involved in building these.

BTW, that is dead bang on!

Congratulations, an awesome piece of work!

Bob

Sorry for replying soo late everyone  Thank you all for all the support with this project, and especially the wonderful feedback you've written.
Bob L. thank you sir, it means a lot getting such a comment from someone like yourself.

OK Cheyenne, you wanted to know what is next, well it's a Sherman. I'm building it OOTB as a range target, Swiss Cheese anyone. Here is a link to the build on my forum.

I don't think the linking is working :hmmm Here is a pick....

I'll be blogging it on my website. I wanted to play around with some painting, mainly experimenting.

If it makes sense to move this build to the "snapshot in time" please go ahead.

Thanks again to all.

Very cool. I remember we where firing M82's at some M4's in Borden and no one was getting a hit. Finally the range was shut down and we went up to see. There was a 4 footish hole that we all aimed at and the other side had , well no side. Every round down range had gone through the small hole out the back and burried in the burm. Big hole where too. Started again and told aim for front. That was good until someone aimed high and hit the barrel. Went to 50 cal range after that to play around. Man a lot of years ago.

Superb, Rob: superlative modeling! :eek:hmy: Jaw dropping finish, with maybe THE best weathering/"rusting" I've ever seen - it's there in the right places/ammount, sometimes subtle, sometimes eye smacking... absolutely "fiendish" work, proper of a model wizard! :notworthy

Congrats on one of the best models I've ever seem built... no, really!!! (y)

Cheers and thanks for sharing the journey! :dude
Fernao

Wow Fernao, thank you so much for the praise   I take it you really like it.

James...yep the range target brings back some memories for me as well.

I have packed the T69 away and it is forgotten, onwards with new projects. The Swiss cheese Sherman is ready for painting.

I'm no experienced modeler Rob and you know that, but I've seen my share of great builds in the last six months - the internet is a fabulous tool when it comes to finding stuff you like, so I think I can tell a good model from a GREAT model! B)

But that's not all there is to say here: one thing is to build a model out of your head, which allows you to get away with mistakes that only YOU will know about, as there is no detailed reference, and another very different thing is to build a model depicting a real situation, highly detailed on a photograph, which leaves you with very little room for error and almost no liberty at all to improvise. ;)

And that's my point here: you built that T-69 with an amazing degree of similarity to the one on the photo... it was just awesome, believe me when I say so! :notworthy

Cheers and let the next one of your builds come soon! :dude
Fernao

Thanks Fernao, very much appreciated buddy.

The next project is well underway. Paint is on and I've started the chipping. No pics yet, just took a break to have a bite to eat .
