DAK with Doc - Next installment

Okay! Decals are on the Grey and they have set overnight. I over coat with satin coat and when dry I mask them with Tamiya Tape followed by a coat of hair spray.

I let the HS dry for a few hours, then start applying the RAL 8020.

Interesting, you're using Vallejo satin...I had problem with it peeling once..then again I've had problems with everything peeling.

Getting on the satin coat now..:soldier

With the base 8020 set, add some more flat flesh or a wee bit of white and thinking about Zenithal lighting (Zenithal lighting is the representation of light on a model from an overhead position) add a post shade layer or two. Then lighten the paint one more time and brush paint raised bolts, hinges, etc.

DML Panzer 1 ausf. B ( DAK with Doc)

I hope all of you who are fathers are having a great day!

Next up is the application of a separating medium. I am using hairspray, decanted from the spray can and applied with the airbrush. When dry I apply the first coat of RAL 8020. This is not like the base coat of Dark Grey, you want to let some of the Grey show through in certain areas, like panel edges and such. Below is a video of the process, enjoy!

This is some amazing work John, nice tutorials! In my brief foray into armour, I decided I have no patience for tracks, but it would be interesting to try these techniques on a wheeled vehicle some day.

:popcorn

Once the base coat of 8020 is applied, add more flat flesh and post shade/modulate, or whatever makes you happy, then hit the highest spots with even lighter 8020, applied with a brush.

Sample areas to highlight

Time to cheepin' things up a wee bit! With an old and dampened brush - SLOWLY - start to activate the hairspray. Concentrate on edges and areas the crew would use to enter and exit the vehicle.

Okay I picked up a DAK Kubelwagen and a Pz.Kpfw. III ausf. N from sPz.Abt. 501 today. I think the Kubelwagon should do just fine for this seeing as my last choices didnt fall in the guidelines. So keep on teaching, I'll be here soon.
