Well after taking time off I’m back Into the hobby. This came from Lindberg’s Dodge L-700 semi kit and one I really wouldn’t recommend. Lots of difficult alignment and fit problems. Rather than do the semi I went a different direction, a car hauler. So chopped the top about 4” 1:1, drop the front axel and move it back so not to rub the fenders. This also needed the front mud flaps to move back a touch. To make the flat bed part of the trailer was cut down and to figure the length a car from the shelf was used. To hide the seam oak veneer was payed down. The tractor frame needed to be extended and lifted a bit. After doing that it seemed rather empty behind the fuel tanks to the rear wheels so a couple of new storage boxes was just the ticket. To load a vehicle on the bed a winch was made with some old fish line and a pen barrel. The kit came with a couple of nice ramps but a car would high center so the bed needed to tilt. The hinge system is the same as one uses for opening doors. Then a hydraulic cylinder was fabricated. As I would mock things up I kept using a 32 Ford sedan I built several years ago and liked its color scheme so much I used it on the truck too. Enjoy
