That's what I'm afraid of. Not Brando, but I kept thinking the same thing as I was working on it. The angle is helping that resemblance either, this actor's face is much wider than Brando.
It's hard to see detail, this was a quick shot of a white subject, when I get some more work done on it, I'll take some proper shots with tripod and exposure settings.
I do appreciate the kind words though.

Thanks guys.
I just discovered an incredible tool for sculpting. There was something about the mouth that was bugging me so I put both images into photoshop and added a grid. Lo and behold, I need to raise the mouth about a mm and shorten his head. Besides a bit of work on the right eye, brow, scar and nose bridge, I'm pretty close.

Don't apologize MP, you were exactly on point with my thoughts as I was sculpting. I put the hair 'sketch' on because when he was bald, he was more Kurtz than Karl. I kept saying 'The Horror, the Horror' every time I looked at it.
Should I do a separate sculpt, 'the German Godfather'? He'll make the Russians an offer they can't refuse.

Honestly I couldn't figure what time frame you're doing Brando, your sculpt looks too old for "Young Lions" and not old enough and too thin for Kurts.

I saw the first post, then MP said Brando. I looked again and thought, well, yeah, but. He actually looks like somebody else, another actor. Then I remembered the Great Escape and Karl-otto Alberty Actually, he was in a lot of WW II movies. Great character actor. I agree MP, they have the same basic facial structure. Their eyes are the biggest difference!
Great job Ausf! Very impressive. All the years I ran VLS, I was always searching for a sculptor who could do likenesses. They are rare indeed. Many great sculptors, very few who can do likenesses.

Imitation has always been very easy for me, whether it was painting, sculpting or music. But, as Gilda would say, it's both a blessing and a curse.
I could be handed music and be asked to play it like Mingus or Flea, etc. and there's no problem but if I was asked to play it like myself you'd hear crickets.
I started sculpting like this years back at an AMPS show. I had a table a few away from Hornet and my business partner bet me that I couldn't sculpt a head that size. I bought some Aves and an exacto and sculpted what I thought was a 1/35 German head with a toque (since I can't sculpt a helmet). The next day he brought it over to Roger Saunders and was told it was a great Damian Lewis. I set out to do a German, but ended up with a freezing Major Winters from the 101st. :facepalm
