Clipped wing Spitfire

Fantastic Chris. Man she looks so different in that livery. Really like this one. What is the antenna from the roundel to the horizontal stab though?? Dont think I've seen that before.
James

James, they are seldom visible in those old pictures.

Even the dirt and weathering is not detestable unless you can find a close up.

The drawings are from an old FAOW book.

The following pictures are borrowed from the Kit maker gallery for illustration.

It appears that museums don't bother with these details. Even the bracket on the mast is missing, so it is also missing on the Tamiya kit .

Good model but their researchers are a bit obtuse with finding actual details.

This is the attaching point on the fuselage .

I also looked at a lot of models on ARC in much larger scales but most of those did not get past a good paint job . Only a couple were wired. :bang head

Thanks for looking . Gonna take more pix . Christian

James, as soon as I saw I knew I wanted one of these in the collection . I found more interesting schemes in the Malta theater . Will have to give one those a try sometimes. :)

And now, some boring family pictures : :rotf

I have certainly taken a shine to Maters barrels and Quickboost exhaust. They add a good bit of refinement in 1/72 scale since the factory items are poorly done.

Brake lines and a couple of clamps were added but the clamps gave me fit issues with the gear doors.

Interestingly the gear struts had no torque links.

The access door was cutout and opened. Instrument decals were added as well as gear indicators (of course )

I did a good bit of weathering since Malta is a harsh environment.

Thanks Bob, James ,Mike Paddy, T., Paul

Very good kit and decal excerpt for changing some decals this would have been a breeze to build.

Even the clear parts were exceptionaly good.

Thanks Phil. I am pleased with this one. Other than the paint challenge ,it was like slipping on a glove :D
