Looking around , wondering what to do next and i found some blackdog detail sets on line for the Airfix Lynx AH7. 1/48
Not a huge Helicopter fan but they do offer the model builder a chance to detail up as the interiors are always accessible. anyway to cut a long story Short Airfix no longer produce the Lynx in Army or navy form !! Now to me thats a new model still although its prob 10 years old its what i think of as new generation Airfix. I suppose in the US its an oddity as its very much a British aircraft but it wasnt unusual to see these fly over my home up till a few years ago. The new version is the wildcat but these are all Lynx airframes re manufactured i think.

ABOVE: this is a Lynx Mk8, the last of the line for the Royal Navy. Used as the std on board ship aircraft on Frigates and destroyers and a sub hunter.

ABOVE : This is a wildcat , note engines, boom undercarriage and you can see the Lynx heritage but its an all new aircraft really .

Anyway i digress as a Brit on a mainly US website i know these things are not mainstream so might be of interest. Why do companies like Airfix go to all the trouble of tooling up these models then discontinue them so soon ? there are a raft of accessories for these kits from Eduard, Aires and Blackdog which are now quite useless unless you can find an old kit at a swap meet :) Hasegawa is another, there is a full range of after market based on Hase models especially the Aires detail set but all the models them selves are discontinued, I recently found a Hase Stuka after a long time looking to go with a resin detail set i have.
It must drive people like Eduard mad to develop these detail sets and etch frets just to see the original model discontinued.

Bottom line is i ended up buying a Revell Lynx in 1/32 !! not my aircraft, not my scale and not my field of knowledge :) and i wondered if anyone else has built this and if its any good ?

I have the HAS 3 in the stash. From what I've read it is a good kit, lots of opportunity for the super detailer. There is some careful fitting required due to the modular parts to cover the the different variants that have been kitted and opening the right holes for the variant of choice. It is a display space hog as the rotors can't be folded out of the box, but there is a aftermarket kit for that.

Thanks Rich
the rotor fold parts are available from scale warship Ltd at about £15.00 GBP, i have ordered a set and will report back when they arrive

Absolutely build-able. Notice the wiring harnesses are generally a single color. One mistake I make often is trying to pain them multiple colors.
