BV 138 Flying Clog

Good point Phil . I thought of a replacement panel but I don't really know what the primer color would have been for one of these .

After all Blohm and Voss were really ship builders . At any rate a bare metal panel would have been good on a sea plane .

Anyhow, this is what I accomplished today . The gloss coat is still tacky .

I have plenty more ideas for the paint job, so I don't think it'll be boring .

I also managed to miss a small touch place on this monster . As I said, you can't turn and flip this thing over enough times on any session to see it all. :soldier Will fix it latter :fencing

Cheers, Christian

Looking really smart Christian, (y)

You could paint that unpainted section bare metal silver - gives it character, just like a new replaced section on the wing

The last problem came up from merely peeling off the tape

May have read this wrong but did you get paint lift?

I'll give you my method anyway, spray the whole model with Tamiya A/S 12 bare metal silver, then after using your Gunze acrylics if you handle the model alot during the rest of construction, and you inadvertently rub some paint off, you have a nice safety net under your main paint = instant paint wear.

The A/S 12 is a great base for acrylics, never had paint lift since using this.

No Phil not paint lift . Plastic joint separation . Too much flex inside of the wing , going from front to back. :(

Time to post a picture once again .

I know it doesn't look like much progress , but masking those walkways took hours yesterday .

Finally sprayed them this morning and shot Future on the bottom of the boat as well.

I didn't particularly trust those old decals or for that matter the box art/instructions , so I have looked at a bunch of pictures and then searched my spare decals .

That pretty much shot this day .

Thanks for looking . :) Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks Phil . Glad you explained that one as I have not heard it before.... Although one wrong letter in the second word could easily start a fight :rotf :rotf :rotf

No worries Christian!

if something looks bad we usually just say it looks like crap!! or ''that word''!!

Certainly has 'presence', Chris.

Ian

I'm sorry Ian. Didn't mean to ignore your response especially since you seldom comment.

Presence . An interesting word in a modeling conversation . Never heard it used around my builds before but it does have it. More so than just the amount of space it occupies .

I can't help but think of how good it would look moored up to a wooden dock or towed by a U boat . I wish I had an inclination to do those things . Alas if I did, there would be no place to keep it :(

Cheers, Christian B)

Wow Chris its looking so nice All that work is paying off mate. :popcorn

Thanks Dave.....It sure has been a lot of work even taking my glacier like speed into consideration. :pp

Today,s complaint is why does oil take so long to dry. I want to rub off the excess :bang head But better not :(

Cheers, Christian B)

Well finally moved in and online , but still a lot to do . Great progress on the BV 138 , Chris !!!
