BV 138 Flying Clog

You gotta be proud of it as it stands now Chris, I know I would be. How are you going to display it? :popcorn

Funny you should ask that question Bob.......that light has been faintly blinking on and off for a while now but I have been trying to ignore it.

This is the option that comes with the kit but although they used it , it looks like a toy.

Got a couple pictures of this.....Looks doable , so I might make it.

If I had the knowledge I would consider water and a dock :idonno

If I had good plans a very long time to do it, I would consider a catapult to be the best option but alas I don't see that happening :(

I'd go with # 2 Bob , although if I run out of time before Simpsonville I might just shore it up :drinks

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks for flying by Paul . I'll take all the encouragement I can get . :good:

Last night I got a lot of bits and glue together and made this machine gun stand.

Sprue bits
copper wire
insulation
gun stock from Italeri kit
gun barrel from Aires
Ammo from Aires ( not on yet )
Home made ammo chute

The IDF antenna has also been made and installed.

Thanks for looking :good: Cheers, Christian B)

Great stuff so far but normally DF loops need to turn to work and being right next to the antenna mast it doesn't look like that would work too well :idonno

You're absolutely right Garry . The loop might be a hair too big as well.

Looking at some pictures, I've noticed for the first time that they were not in this order at all time.

I must have moved the hole when I super glued the fuselage halves together . Drat !

I guess the question is now, what am I willing to do about it ? :hmmm

Need to think on this.

Cheers, Christian B)

Sorry, didn't mean to throw a monkey wrench in the works. Yes, looking at photos the position of both antennas varied some a few even had them reversed with the mast ahead of the DF loop. While these aircraft were built in lots its hardly like the mass production we know today and I suspect the RLM was constantly changing things as well !

Not to worry Garry it's only plastic and acrylic paint . There are plenty of other little things in the build that are not correct. That one is rather brutal :S

I asked my mentor for advice last nigh but he just threw up his hands.

Guess I'm on my own :soldier

Since some of you are paying attention I'll just have to fix this

A bit of surgery,

Clog_antenae_001_a.jpg

Some masking and paint

Made some gizmos

How's that ? I like it better the kit part myself.

While there I also added a gun sight and an ammo belt to the MG 131 .

Thanks for looking . Cheers, Christian B)

You do make it look easy Chris, outstanding fix. I got a couple of dings in the truck, can you look at them when we go to Spartanburg? :drinks

Damn you make that fix look so easy :drinks

Dave, you have no idea how hard it was to work an exacto knife while crossing my fingers on both hands

Very careful trimming and minimal sanding did the trick . A hand brushed coat of Future helped smooth out the imperfections and doubled as the primer .

I hope that after a wash and some weathering it will disappear.

The hard part was actually drilling the hole without splitting the fuselage open .

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks Garry, Joe and nsmekanik . You guys give me too much credit .... I was sweating bullets

Cheers, Christian B)
