Thanks for looking . Cheers, Christian B)

I guess it would help me to know what effect you are trying to do?

B)

Sorry T . I was actually referring to the appearance of the fuselage.....You know, something that keeps going in and out of water . Plus that temp white paint .

Right now I'm using white Humbrol over Acrylics and a couple coats of Future.

Washing it off with your favorite Spirits .

Cheers, Christian B)

Hmmmm....ok. :hmmm

My 2 cents worth... wouldn't spray, especially salt water spray have a front to back, bottom to top pattern of some sort? and the underwings would have a bare sport close to the body and blocked by wing booms, engines etc?

You're washing it off with tequila ? :woohoo:

Well that would be my favorite , so I wouldn't waist it on this. :rotf

The reference was really about Mr. T's favorite Mineral Spirits ..... Don't know if he sips it or not ? :idonno

All those things sound possible Barney . Not really sure what one might have really looked like.

Most of the pictures are quite bad, so I'm taking some artistic liberties ( of course ).

I believe these birds were probably well maintained but that's not the same as regular baths.

Let me illustrate a bit .

Along with the daily baths in the ocean, I think it probably rained fairly regularly around Norway....Not sure which really caused all the vertical streaks but there's plenty of them .

Looks like they got used and banged up some as well :smack

I hope no one was hoping for a shinny birdie :tomato

Ah I see what you're going for. Try to go thinner and like have a demark line where it doesn't get much higher. That first picture looks more like some whitewash camo don't ya think?

/I hope you wont take this in a bad way, but what it looked like to me was that you added 2 ghosts / ghouls on the side.
I think maybe a thinner more translucent white wash wiping it off front to back. I think mabe a splash of the fuselage colour added to the white to make it less stark? Of course I have never done anything like it before so dont take my word as gospal.

We have a retired British pilot at church who flew Sunderlands... Of he is at church Sunday I will enquirer about maintenance and the such. He is flipping amazing.

Yes Bob, it looks like a white was camo . Not having any luck at thinning it more than this.

I wonder what Mig uses as the gloss coat for his work. He certainly makes it look easy.

Anyhew, I will deal with the demarcation line once the other side is done. Hard to stop the wash where you want and tapping it scares me :S

Looks beautiful to me! You might try matching this waterline:

OK I see where you're going.

James is right, looks like it's tricked up for Halloween. To me it looks like they attempted to make the side look like breaking wave crest, make the tops a bit more rounded, use some Hubrol thinner on a brush, blot the brush on a paper towel, a lot, where there's just a hint of thinner and work the shame of the white some.

And yes this stage should be on a gloss coat. Think you said you got a couple of layers of Future down right? Think you will be safe with the hint of humbrol on top of the Future. I know I scrubbed my attempt at white wash a couple of times with humbrol and it didn't penetrated the acrylic gloss, dulled it a bit so don't go heavy!

I know what you mean about the ghost. I noticed that earlier . Just happened but I should be able to do something.

As far as changing the colors, I will have to dig around. The streak are Humbrol and the base coat Acrylic .

Don't have a great selection of Humbrols anymore.

Don't worry James . It's all experimental here as well.

Thanks Chuck . Could use a bit of info on these bright green marks you have made .

I'm aware of the water line but plan on doing that last.

That sounds cool. Seems the Sunderlands got to be looking rough too .
Does he come with pictures ?
