Bf 109 question

Question for you airplane buff's. When parked, are the flaps and slats on the 109 up or down and are they both together up or down?

Joe, I'm no expert but from the pictures I've seen, they have been down for the most part. I can't tell you if there were some SOP to leave the flaps down or a lockout or not, also it looks like both worked in tandem.
 
From eight years in the air force they were always up unless in use.
This prevents damage from objects being thrown up by prop wash and tires when taxiing.:D

But what about 40 year old technology Tony.

I know our modern stuff would raise flaps and lock them in place till needed or maintenance. But what about the old stuff, like the P51 main gear covers, they would close when powered up but would drop after a short while after shut down.

Didn't they keep the flaps dropped on the F4U?
 
I did a little more research this morning and came upon an article that said that the slats on 109 were held up by air pressure meaning the slats dropped when air pressure was below a certain amount. But the luftwaffe got into a habit of pushing the slats back up after landing to protect the guide ways and such from contamination. So in my opinion either way is fine. Thanks for all the replies.

The F-100 Super Saber has the same slat system. Part of the pre-flight inspection was to check the free fall function of the slats.
