We had one here that went down. The Pilot sadly died when the Ejector seat did not work :notworthy

I was very, very lucky to see Lightnings flying at airshows and from their 'nest' at Binbrook from the mid-1980's, and the was at BAe Warton (near Preston) for their last few flights as chase planes in 1991...

...Simply incredible machine, and in the UK still running (but not flying) at Bruntingthorpe.
