Another Junk

What did you do to make the cowl fit?

Just for you :mpup !

Managed to install those stubborn main wheels .

Strange trick for a radial engine but the cowl is too large for the cylinder head, so I'm gonna shim them of them and see what I got .

Three of these .040 X .040 shims ( 120 degrees apart ) did the trick.

Thanks Bob and Dave

Thanks Ron for venturing out of the dark side ... :soldier

Thanks John ... It's probably not worthy of the big sign but I have to give it a mighty odd :blink

I need to stop looking at pictures . I keep finding junk to add to it...Like this odd little window detail :idonno

and these grab handle that are not even mentioned in the kit :frantic

You probably realise I painted them . Right ?

Hahahaha Chris has AMS who knew :D

I mean really . Thought that only happened to you guys

The worst combinations are :

A poor quality model ( the universe is full )

Good instructions.

A modeler that thinks the two should resemble each other . :vmad

Cheers, Christian B)

Looking good Chris. Weird place for the crew to draw a squiggly arrow though :rotf

(y) (y) (y) (y) (y) :D
James

I know. Some look like they are inside and some outside :idonno Can't tell for sure.

Maybe they were supposed to be like horse blinders and keep the crew from getting frightened :rotf

I guess the wingtip skids made up for it :good:

Well folks , this week has been a battle . The wife has been sick most of this time and this resin exhaust for this radial engine has been :tomato Exhausting !
But I got through it :fencing

Not only did the resin exhaust break when I tried to remove it from the blocks but it was also warped and some of the pipes just did not go where they needed to :vmad

Junk_exhaust_002a.jpg

So, I dissected it in multiple locations and mocked up the best possible fit .

It was then superglued in place and pieces of tubing added as needed .

Junk_exhaust_001a.jpg

Frankly, I could have used Master Chuck's resin bending skills and Alex' surgical ability .

Finally, I added the extensions, mount and clamps and for good measures built some expansion joints out of wire.

Junk_exhaust_005a.jpg

Frankly the real thing does not show these joints but I don't see how you could shake that length of exhaust without breaking something sooner or latter.

That think makes me think of Frankenstein's caleopy .

Finally some paint ! :good:

Last night the MV lens arrived for the landing light

and tonight I started weathering this monster

Hopefully will be finished tomorrow. Cheers, Christian B)
