All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Looks like you're almost there, Kenny, I'm sure you're ready to done! (y)
Indeed. My wife is working with some more volunteers today to finish the rest of the house. Saturday I'll start putting up door trim.

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

A day of highs & lows for sure.

This morning I had an in person interview for a job that I had done a phone interview for last Tuesday. After the phone interview, I was left feeling very positive about the prospects of the job. It was a job I felt I would really enjoy, be able to learn a lot of new things, and on top of that, probably get a pretty substantial pay raise in the process.

Interview started at 8:30 this morning w/ a 2 hour CAD test, to show my skills w/ Solidworks, since that's what the job would entail using. Immediately ran into issues w/ trying to create the part that they gave me, but at the end I was able to get something that was very close but unfortunately I ran out of time before being able to complete the model.

Once the CAD exam was completed, I was giving a tour of the facility, and I was extremely pleased with what I saw. It was a very clean looking place, that is going through a lot of expansion right now, with a lot of new equipment.

After the tour I had 2 30 minute interviews w/ 2 of the engineers, and all through the interviews they seemed to put a lot of emphasis on my lack of experience w/ 2 parts of the program that are used a lot for the job, and I just had a vibe through the whole thing that it just didn't go the way I wanted.

And then about 45 minutes ago I got an email saying that they decided to go w/ someone w/ more experience than I have. Getting that response was both a great blessing, and a huge disappointment at the same time. I absolutely love the job I have now, the people I work w/ and for are great people, so the whole time I wasn't sure I wanted to leave. But the new job would have presented a lot of new opportunities, new things to learn (and that money thing too  ).

So I'll stick with the job I have now, continue to grow with it and get better, and down the road I might have another opportunity come along that I'm a perfect match for.

Adam, that's great that things worked out in the end. You'll do fine.

I have a few plans for Labor Day; we'll see what happens.

Home today. I pulled my left trapezius at the gym Wednesday- no biggie at the time, but by last evening it was misery. Went to the chiro this morning- crrrack! Next stop, the MD. It turns out I haven't been having simple allergies- I've had a virus all along. Yuck.

It seems the entire nation came to Las Vegas for the last hurrah of summer. Holy Moly are we busy. I have three builds currently stalled and haven't had time for anything.

Today I'm heading home at 430, eating, working out and going to bed.

Went for a short bicycle ride today. Saw a road that looked interesting so I decide to follow it for a bit. That led to another interesting road that then led to yet another interesting road. Acckkk! My short ride ended up being 170 kilometres. I feel good with no aches. Tomorrow I go out for a 30 kilometres trip. When I get back I'm going to attach the Carley float racks assemblies to my corvette ship model.

Cheers from Peter

Yesterday I spent the day repairing the dog kennel after we had a tree limb fall on it a couple of weeks ago. I got all the bent tubing cut away and replaced and built a new frame for the tarp we put over it. Today I got the tarp on it and it's ready for the pups.

Spent all weekend working on my truck. Friday I was able to get 2 tires, a state inspection and the tag renewed. Amazingly, I spent less than 20 minutes at the inspection place and less than 5 at the tag office. That's the fastest I've ever been through either place. The rest of Friday, all day Saturday and most of today was spent replacing the doors, dash & front bumper, and things just snowballed out of control to where I Was ready to push my truck over a cliff and not look back. I think I'm ready to go back to work just for a break, haha.

Me too! I might take next Friday off from work and make a 4 day weekend of it.

I already will get a four day weekend and won't even have to take time off for it. :D Anybody have big plans for Labor Day?

This Saturday coming, my family and I will fly to Florida. We will be at Walt Disney Resorts in Orlando for the complete week. I have family in Kissimee and may visit Kermit Week's Fantasy of Flight Museum. We return (wearing Mickey Mouse ears) on Sunday, September 8th.
