Helene come out of nowhere. We got our power back this afternoon. Power outage sucks, but at least we still have a home for the electricity to come back on to.I'm sure the view today has boats, flotsam and jetsam scattered the beach about and water lines 4 feet or higher on buildings.
Helene was merciless. Moonpuppy, errains and iambrb are without power and will be until Tuesday as far away as SC. NVTS, nuts!
Our May tornado came and was gone in minutes. None of this "stick around all day and try to kill you" shit that hurricane Helene did.
It was an epic storm. Made it all the way to our place in Cohutta, N. Georgia. East Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina got punched hard too.I used to live in Oklahoma. (will go back when I retire) Folks would tell me that they would rather live in FL, TX, or along the coast areas as they were afraid of tornados. My reply was that tornados hit small areas and you might never see one. Hurricanes hit big areas and it is a matter of when not if you will have to deal with one if you live on the gulf coast.
With that said, I am sorry to see that there is so much damage from this. Hope our SC friends get their power back soon.
From the models I was watch you guys should have gotten hit. Glad you did not Gary. Here in Monroe, GA, we dodged a bullet. 6.7 in. of rain, some wind, no power lost. The west side of the eye passed over us. Gary S.
Geez Bob. What a mess. Penny had just bought $350 worth of groceries when the power quit here. We were lucky as the juice was out only about 12 hrs. From the models I was watch you guys should have gotten hit. Glad you did not Gary.
They still saying mid week for our service to return.
Meanwhile I'm dusting of my grill master title cooking fried rice on a turkey cooker burner.
Tomorrow we'll try oatmeal, all fresh food is ruined now.
Well be better prepped next time.
We made it through unscathed till Saturday. About 4am one of our big white oaks fell on the power lines and snapped to poles. Blocked the highway and put power out to about 500 people for about 12 hrs. Here in Monroe, GA, we dodged a bullet. 6.7 in. of rain, some wind, no power lost. The west side of the eye passed over us. Gary S.
no, neighbors car.Good for you!! Hard to believe no damage to the car. Is that your car? Gary S.
YAY!We just got power back at Due West.
I hate that about Eric's home.Yeah I made a costco run stocking up on fish and hamburgers, they all gone.
Bruce @iambrb has been taking it like a pro, he has no power and no damage but has been going in on his job taking care of the college kids and getting them feed.
Eric @errains reports damage to the model room, tree fell on it. Everyone is without power still. Everyone is safe and personally I consider us blessed that there was no more than what this was.
