Body is just balanced in position Peter, it will fit flush when its fixed. Kit mouldings are stamped 1974 but its actually pretty well up with today's standards i think.

Yes, the Tamiya Ford Quad Gun Tractor kit has aged very well. I have a couple of them and I have one that I was kit bashinging into a Ford LRDG truck. That little V8 engine is a nice little model in itself and is totally exposed on a Ford LRDG truck. I forgot that your Quad was the Tamiya kit. It does build up very well though and there's a fair bit od detail that washes and drybrushing can bring out. The main thing is that it's an enjoyable kit to build.

A simple thing you can do is to change the 2 plastic blobs infront of the roof-opening,
it's supposed to be handles so make new ones out of wire.
Love the way you painted the seats!

The kit windows are awful !! I have replaced the fronts with thin film but i plan disguise the poor roof quarters by "breaking" them ?

As a matter of interest the tractors were all this strange shape by design as the War Ministry in the UK said they must be capable of being hosed down in the event of a chemical attack so no flat horizontal surfaces were allowed.

My diorama plans are doing well in my head but i think i might struggle with the ground. I am hoping
Massimo will be able to tell me how he got his rocks here to scale so well

This little bit of my planned Diorama is done. I don't know whether to carry on here on this thread now as i have started or move to the other "just like the real thing" ? Maybe stay here until i start to assemble the scene, I might not use the limber and gun as the truck will be displayed on its own i think. I dont want to flood the scene with models just for the same of cramming them in.

The bonnet (hood) is not glued so it will be displayed open later. I need to make some buildings. You can actually buy them but that sort of seems like cheating Fortunately North African buildings are pretty simple but i may move this to Sicily as the 8th army moved across there after the desert campaign. My truck is showing signs of rust not usually found in the desert :laugh:
It also makes Diorama landscape slightly more interesting.
I have been unable to find much on creating a landscape, i have a frame and base and i suppose i need modelling putty ? but i cant find scale aggregate other than 00 scale railway stuff.
