1/700 Motor Vessel Steyning (sort of!)

These Hob Lob bases make me wish for a planer. Then. too, I could have just covered it in sealer and gone forward from there. :bang head

How many cheap bases can you buy for the cost of a planer?
At Dollar Tree, these small ones are $1.25USD each:

These larger ones are $3USD each:

A mini wood planer from Lowes is $17USD: So about four large and four small bases from Dollar Tree (3x4=12)+(1.25x4=5)=17.

A nice Stanley is $34USD from Home Depot: So about eleven large bases with most of a small one! :smack:

The math seems to check out.gif

The scene from Raiders shows Bantu Wind riding at anchor in brown/green littoral (close to shore) waters. I do love the Tamiya clear blue over LP-48 shining silver effect, but the deep blue sea would not be authentic. The test plastic shows clear green over clear orange and clear blue over clear clear orange.

Then too, the green/brown of river water seems less than genuine as well. :hmm:
