After just 5 years, the 1/700 scale waterline hull of the 1921 Canadian schooner Bluenose is finally ready to go to mold with her optional SV Lucretia windlass/winch bits and hard over lower hull shim.

Quite a few techniques were learned during this time, but she is my first wood deck project. Angus Walters' command deserved the best! An older, smaller cup mold makes cabins and boats.
The boats for Lucretia are a pair of 24-foot RHI boats.

Do you think Bluenose needs stacked fishing Dorys for authenticity?

Womping up a pair of Dory short-stacks seemed logical for Grand Banks fishing authenticity. The room mold is filled and ready, but..........

On my way to train for summer bus runs, a sound came from behind the dash of the Chevy. Airflow from the A/C slowed to a whisper. I embarrassed and injured myself doing under-dash contortion to clean out the blower wheel. The hose for Dale the Compressor started to blow cool air on my foot. Just like that, the quick-connector separated from the hose. Once I get that fixed, mold making will proceed.
Thursday sucked.

Glad it was a quick fix, just think, if it were a brand new truck you would have had to take it to the dealer and have the codes reset for $$$.

That squirrel cage reminds me of the PILE of dead leaves I found behind the fender on my Sienna back when I was replacing it from the deer damage. Have no real idea how they got in there, but they had been in there for a while.

Clearing Masters form a successful RTV mold sometimes looks like madness, but there is method to such madness.

It's been said that my pictures don't show all the fine details of my castings. The natural cream color of first castings is a also a detriment to showcasing such fine detail. The 1/700 scale Bluenose schooner molds are very successful!

With all respect to Stan Rogers and our Canadian cousins, I think my first build may be Lucretia of Jimmy Buffett fame.
A scarlet ship with red sails underway on an azure sea may prove to be quite striking!

There is cause for celebration! The 1/700 Bluenose mold is producing detailed, outstanding, castings! Painting wood tan helps these cream colored castings. Starting tomorrow, I can pigment the polyurethane plastic and make it easier for buyer to see the workmanship that went into this waterline model kit!

The hull insert worked out really well! One must only choose how much of Bluenose' bow is out of the water on the base as she flies before the wind on a running swell! I will include tips and hints about how I make my 3X3 inch cube ocean bases in this issue!

Yes we have! The Eastern Iowa Model Show and Swap Meet would have been the first show to vend at, but Ty Stevens decided to get married the same day. Real Life trumps goofing off with model friends. I had a plan to sell most of my car model kits there.
Well, not the Funny Car kits and a couple of Tom Daniel Monogram models.

The stock Bluenose cabin was wrong. My original 2021 cabin was too rectangular and lacked some prominent, well documented details. A more accurate wedge-shaped cabin Master was built today. Now the hatch has rails to slide on, a better binnacle and a less chunky skylight are among the improvements. This bit will be in it's own little mold. The alternate cabins will still be included for the Jimmy Buffett red SV Lucretia version.

In spite of a strong inclination to make a big (?) red schooner and use all the cool, modern boats and accoutrement', Bluenose was the choice and I will build just the one schooner. In the end, my undying fondness for Stan Rogers and his music won out. Sorry Jimmy. I expect to pour the all the small cup molds Sunday after the glue and Future is well cured. One mustn't rush one's chemicals. This build will progress after the proper Bluenose cabin has been cast. Stay tuned, eh!

Doctors have described his condition as stable. When asked for a statement, the man was a little hoarse." I DID NOT TEACH HIM THAT! He must have learned it in school.

Then he said "Male bees die after mating. That's basically their life. Honey. Nut. Cheerio!"
