1/48 Academy Jagdpanzer ..... :^o !!!!!!!

Yes ... it´ s the old Tamiya kit, released by Academy ... 30 years ago?

... yes ... this one:

... just see the tracks ...

Why I´m doing this?

JUST for fun! I also want to see if a detailed painting work can hide a bad kit ...

Meanwhile I finish the 1/48 AFV Club Tiger I Vignette (glossy varnish is really slowly to dry...), I decided for a really fast work, just for joy ... because modelling is not just accuracy, details, resin and PE parts .. it´s also FUN

I started it on the MBC-Camuflage show last sunday at Mülheim-Kärlich (Germany), close to Koblenz, where I bought the kit for just 5 Euros!

This is what I did there:

... soon, some steps more.

If result is funny and not too much "toy - looking", I´ll make a little funny vignette with this one:

Soon ... more steps ... and also the finished base for the Tiger... just waiting for the figures

Many thanks for looking!

Dear Jose.

...very interesting thread...I agree with you...an elaborate painting job will hide the issues of this old one...anxious to see it finished!

Best!

Luiz.

Jose,
I think I like where this one is going...   :eek:hmy:
I have a bunch of snap-tite 1/32nd scale cars for the
same purpose... I will be following this build closely. ;) :)

I love it. It is great to see out-of-the-box builds by skilled modellers. That rabbit must be a rare kit.

If anyone could make a cheap kit look like a million bucks, it's you, Jose! I like what you've done so far! I had a 1983 Rabbit, the Golf looks much like it. Decent car for the money, I'll be interested to see where you go with it. (y)

... you did not wait too long for a new post, didn´t you .... ;)

Some pictures from the kit made just some minutes ago

I did:

- General and intensive wash (using oleo) all aroud the kit to enhance the ... details? :blink ... details? ... where? .... awfull kit ...

- General acrylic highlight on details and some surfaces. I used the same base color adding some dark yellow.

- Decals. The decals from the kit, excepting the plates, are unusable. I used home made templates for the circles, decals from a Revell´s Tornado (1/72) for the crosses and transfers for the numbers.

- Accesories base color. I painted the gun cover with acrylic canvas color slightly higlighted with marfil. Metal parts directly in black and wood parts using two different colors to achieve a more colorfull finish.

- Chipping. As usually with acrylic colors. For superficial chips, just the base color a little highligthd. For the deepest, just a 50% red - 50% black mix. Some chippings were applied with a number 1 brush and others, with a sponge

Next step ... oleos.

Thanks for looking!

your brilliant paintwork distracts the eye from the horrible detail on this model kit. i know how horrible it is i have one which i keep as a memory of when i was just a teen talking of which does anybody remember the 1/48 aurora is3, chi ha and m48 i still have them boxed and all

Hola Jose Luis,

Good painting work with an old kit.Like it.

About the tracks,do you think about any similar in 1/35 scale?,(of a little bit more

vehicle, like Toast or similar US.Army vehicles, also driving and wheel.)

Saludos from Mad.

Tom

Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen!

Legio ... just because my family is not at home now .... :( ... I miss them and making kits helps me to make time goes faster....

Jenny ... thank you for you nice words, you´re too kind with me!.

Alex, sometimes, to make a kit just for fun is the best medicine!. And of course, a dummie kit is perfect to try new techniques (in this one I´ll try a dry mud)

Fomare ... you really read my mind. I´ve been thinking about this ... the questions is ... which 1/35 vehicle??? ... any idea?

Many thanks for your replies!

Jose Luis,

You can prove in the next link; http://propaganda-kompany.com/

Marc Lebayon,the owner,maybe have a set US.modern wheels,maybe also the tracks.

Just another possibility would be the wheels and tracks of the Tamiya Pershing in 1/48.

I can not remember the type of drawing in the shoes of the chains.I'm not sure is an idea.

Best,

Tomas

Fomare ... thank you for the link. Unfortunately, I didn´t find something useful for this one.... anyway, I found really atractive stuff for future works. Thanks!

And now, the final chapter of this experiment

Dust and accesories made with oleos and acrylic paints.

Sometimes, a work like this one, without pressure, no rush ... is highly recommended ... JUST FOR JOY!
