Just awful....when kits go wrong.

I got a 1/48 Trumpeter Hind for Christmas last year, wasn't really impressed with it, but it is a Hind. Somehow I managed to sit on the canopy, can't get a replacement, so I bought the 1/48 Hobby boss D/V Hind, as this was closer to the model that I wanted.
The kit is most certainly old moldings, the cockpit is awful and looks like a child's toy, so I had the bright idea of combining the two kits, kind of a franken Hind...
The wigs and the landing gear replaced, the engine cowlings that wouldn't fit was also replaced. It certainly was an exercise in patience and engineering, this is the first time I have actually kit bashed something, it was ............ interesting!

Love this as it is what I would do. Any photos? Both Trumpeter and its sister company (Hobby Boss) have awful decals. I ask since I am only familiar with the Monogram Hind (one of the only times I sent references, along with Piotr Butowski to an American model company).

I'm rather embarrassed for my peers to see unfinished let alone mediocre work. but since you asked nicely LOL

Image one, the Trumpeter engine bay, number two, intakes are hobby boss, number three, other side of engine bay, number four wing replacement, trumpeter wings and the flare holders from trumpeter, number five, it is just cute...LOL

I think this is the old Monogram kit, I use the Begemont decals or Star decals.

What you are doing is the basis for reaching for the outlandish and challenging builds. It takes practice and in some cases a fair amount of planning when attempting something special. Keep going for it! You got this!

=============

I have the double Zvezda/Eduard 1/72 double kit and the 1/35th scale Trumpeter Mil24V (export Hind) kits. The Zvezda kits in 1/72 and 1/48th are supposed to be very nice and the 1/72 double kit I have that was reboxed with extra Eduard goodies does look really nice.
What I really want to do is this Hungarian version, but have not reached the point where I feel comfortable trying to do the paint work.

Yeah, just a little over the top. Eduard, late last year released a 1/48th Zvezda Hind with the Alien paint job.

It was an expensive limited edition with the whole thing covered with decals. I think if I saw that coming at me over a hill it would be go hide time.
