Panzer I Ausf. A

Well-known member
On the bench is my next project, the Panzer I.
I'm not sure if I could post the photograph that inspired me to build this kit for a couple of reasons. One, The image says "may be subject to copyright laws" the other is the tank is flying a pre war Totenkopf pennat and I really don't know what the group rules are on such matters.
Anyway first glance at the sprues and I'm thrilled that Takom has addressed issues like injector pin marks and the huge sprue gates directly attached to the parts. YAY!
So, let the fun begin...

With permission these are the photos that inspired me to build the Panzer I. Both date to pre war. The colorized one states it's from '35. I'm not sure if the Panzer I 's carried the Totenkopf pennat into battle. I have seen a photo of a knocked out Panzer III with a British soldier standing on the tank holding the Pennat.

Hard to see how colorful they were during that time.
The ones that survive I've looked at varied. Black field silverish embroidered skull and border or black field with white embroidered skull with no border. Those were a bit later style of skull, though.

Thanks Sharkmouth. I had thought about that, along with even doing a pre war because of the photo proof of the totenkopf pennant. Then I saw this one from the 10th panzer division. I like it because of the markings and want to try and hand paint them rather than using decals at this scale. Idk.
