2011- a year in review

Some top quality work being posted here. This is one of my favorite things on the forum as well. So much stuff I miss throughout the year... Well I thought I was getting something else done in 2011 but I was being optimistic. So, I'll play:

Way back from January 1st, here is the Tamiya 8 ton half track with the 20 mm Flakvierling:

Tamiya 1/48 P-51C I really really like this one even though there is a glaring error. Can you spot it? Joe, don't tell them!

Happy New Year everyone and I hope it is filled with modeling bliss.

Airfix Spitfire MkI:

My decals!??!!

What's wrong with the Mustang, should it be OD? I think it's fine...

Your decals???

With the mustang you can't open the malcom hood where the radio mast is. :bang head

Yep, I'm building the same Spitfire but lost my decals. Can't find them anywhere.

Regarding the Mustang..."D'oh!!" :pilot

quit telling everyone and they won't notice.

Its OK Bob- Saturday I'm posting my last three kits of the year finished or not and I'm gonna show every issue with that Heller Stuka. believe me its a list!

Damned, I edited Adam's post instead of replying! Now, it is fixed.

Anyway, here is my post.

With the mustang you can't open the malcom hood where the radio mast is.

That is a simple fix to snip off, fill, and touch up. Not asking you to do it, just a good head up for others.

Another thing to remember is that most Malcom hoods had the leading and trailing edges of the Plexiglas canopies unpainted:

Great work guys and gal!

Regards,

Sad to say this year has been a bust for me model wise. I hit a big slump early in the year that all but made me want to put the stash on the street. That said.... I did manage to do a complete demo and renovation of our 80 year old master bathroom. We bought "THIS OLD HOUSE"tm; (don't want to get in trouble), 6 years ago and it just got to the point something had to happen.

I did manage to start an IDF Merkava and the PV-1 Ventura, one of which will be finished by New Years.

But next year will see me back in the saddle. I'm all set to build 1/350 Titanic, a 1/48 Bf 109 finish the Merkava and probably Have a couple of more....

Wonder if I can rent you two out, you and your supervisor. I need some bathroom renovation done also. (y)

Hey Bob .... I'll make you a deal. You pick up the tab and supply room and board, not to mention a few kits from your stash and we can work something out.

Kdaddy.. Thanks! We spent around 2 grand on the materials and new fixtures. My labor was on the house so to speak. New sub floor, new drywall and paint, new floor surface, soup to nuts. And I agree pedestal sinks do look great, but are a real PIA to hook up.

You had it easiest on the sink- your supply lines went to the floor instead of the stops coming out of the wall- I'm sure you have realized now that those pvc slipnuts are better tightened by hand with a rag than with a wrench. Good job- i love installing pedestals. But I despise cpvc pipe.

There are some awesome builds here but to be honest the 1:1 toilet model I find the best of all ;)

B) Wow, white a great bunch of builds from you guys. I can't believe how many models get built by some of you - I used to get through more in the past.
I haven't a lot to show for 2011 - all still in progress I am sorry to say.
SPITFIRE Mk 9 - Well Done build.
