New year goals

A new year is fast approaching, again. I was wondering what your modeling goals are this year?
Me? The ever suffering Lullubelle!
Making proper display bases for various subjects.
Might pull the trigger on the Hughes XF11.
Rebuild my work bench, I build a "mechanical" work bench on the end of the shed, thinking of extending it down the wall to incorporate modeling bench and setup the nifty spray booth Eric hooked me up with.

What's on your wish list?

Well I didn't get much built this year but I moved to a new house and renovated the new man cave. Right after that I busted my collar bone and got behind on some of the other minor renos we had planned for Christmas so this year I want to focus on doing some building. On the list is to finish up the shelf queen Special Hobby Piaggio P.108 that is very close to being done. I want to build the BV 141 and the He 117 A5 as they have always fired my imagination.

TLAR Models had a pretty prolific production period in 2024.
2025 will see the release of:
10th Anniversary Rick Raccoon figure kit. (Ready!)
The 1/700 Civil War Confederate Raiders set (CSS Florida, Alabama and USRC Caleb Cushing) should make release early next year. (Castings ready. Instructions are underway)
1/700 War of 1812 Niagara and Lawrence US Navy Brigs (Castings ready.)
1/700 USCG 165' Thetis class WPC (B) cutter. (Castings ready. Instructions are underway. 3D printed Mk.2 3-inch WWII guns on the way)
1/700 US Revenue Cutter Roger B. Taney (Castings almost ready.)
1/700 Bluenose schooner with modern bits to make Jimmy Buffett's "Cleopatra" (Masters in progress)
1/700 USCG Reliance class WMEC. A miniature of the 1/350 kit with all the options of her big sister. (Masters in progress)

Customer requests:
1/700 1883 US Revenue Cutter Roger B. Taney (Castings almost ready.)
1/350 US Coast Guard steel hull 52-foot surf boat. Waterline kit with lower hull.
1/700 Barbary War 1799 USS Enterprise sloop. (References on hand)
A new rum bottle (like Jack Sparrow's) for Rick Raccoon. (Teresa found me a suitable wood bead!)

OPM's (Other People's Models)
Anigrand 1/72 P-67B Moonbat Night fighter.
1/800 USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 Honor Model. (Building progresses.)
Airfix New tool 1/72 Sherman Mk. V Firefly with brass 17-pound cannon barrel. 30 Corps, Operation Market Garden
1/720 DKM Graf Zeppelin 1946 Flugzeugtrager progess? (It's only been 12 years. Pfft!)

The list seems overly ambitious, consider that I usually work on 2 or 3 models at the same time in the cozy Nut Department.

Howzatt?!?

Well,I'm definitely starting with AFV Club's M-113 for a Kitmaker Group Build,after that,who knows ??
Academy A-10
Miniart P-47
GWH F-4B
Meng F-18F
Andy's 1/16 Easy 8
Dragon Jagdpanzer IV
Border M-10 Booker
Takom Greif

If I'm lucky,I'll get 5-6 of these but my lists can easily fall apart,it will be interesting to see what really gets done,and what jumps the line

My goal for 2025 is to spend around 5 hours a week at the bench, complete 5 kits, three of which are already underway and making some decent progress. Plus I want to get a little more active in this forum again. That should be good enough for me, but we will see how it goes.

Truth is i have no idea what i am doing tomorrow let alone next year :)
I have a Meng Mclaren F1 car that i have been waiting for the detail up parts release which is constantly put back. Funny thing is i probably wont buy them anyway as the kit is pretty good.

I have a 1/32 Tamiya spitfire that i want to do a base for and possibly motorise.
I have ordered an MFH 1/9 motorcycle because i have never built a metal kit before.
And most importantly i really do want to finish the Pocher rolls rebuild..

Then in February.... :)

I plan on focusing on getting built all that I have on the list to do.

Right now, that list consists of these:

-> 1/72 scale Boeing 727
-> 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon
-> 1/72 scale C-54
-> 1/500 scale USS Nimitz class carrier... if I can find the Island
-> 1/700 scale German Peter Strasser aircraft carrier
-> box scale Presidential Liner
-> 1/700 scale French Battleship Jean Bart
-> 1/700 scale Italian Battleship Roma
-> 1/72 scale French VBL Anti-tank car
-> 1/72 scale PAC-3 Patriot Launcher
-> 1/72 scale HEMMTT pulling X Band Radar
-> 1/72 scale Abrams, two kits
-> 1/72 scale Japanese GSDF antiship missile truck
-> 1/72 scale British Challenger I Mk. 3
-> 1/72 scale Canadian Leopard II
-> 1/72 scale Russian Armored train
-> 1/72 scale C-123 Provider
-> 1/72 scale US Marine LCAC
-> 1/72 scale Russian Helix
-> 1/72 scale CH-47M Chinook
-> 1/72 scale CH-101 Merlin

.....among others.....

Who knows? I might even finish half of these next year.....

Well, I have a lot on my bench but finished nothing in 2024.
I would like to make major in-roads into my U-Boats. The research is done so finishing a few with some dwgs and artwork to go with them would be good. Next to finish of my stuff would be :
- 1/72 U9 boat, then the 1/72 U505 sinking.
- 1/35 T-80U & T-723BM
- and some new artwork as I haven't done anything in over a year.

plus I have a number of commission jobs to finish and start in 2025 for customers
*to complete from 2024.
- 1/35 WW1 A7V, MkV Male.
*to start and complete(commission 2025)
- 2x 1/35 WW1 armoured cars and one x 1/72 Type 7C Uboat.

Hmm, I have no serious plans for 2025. To get better at scratch building is a thing I would like to do. I am unsure how to go about that. To be more patient and not rush a model would be nice, to enjoy the process.

Believe it or not, I want to try the 4 door Impala again now that I sort of have the steps worked out.

I have an Israeli tank that I really want to do but keep putting off. I would like to get over that. Same with the Mini-Art Cat 60 tractor. I have been told that on a 1 to 5 difficulty scale it scores a 9 and would like to think I am up to the challenge. I want to find out!

Also, I want to build the 65 Mustang Fastback.

I would love to NOT have back surgery this year like I have for the past 3 in a row. In fact, I am determined that no matter what I am NOT going under the knife ever again. I can tell my spine is failing again and I am hoping I can just live with the pain.

I am just going to try and finish up some of my shelf of doom builds. Have several nice new kits I would like to start, but am working on the old stuff that I got tired of working on and am trying to finish an old build before starting something new.
